      Lucid Beginner

Hello there, I've been reading into Lucid Dreaming for a while now after a strange dreaming experience as a child.

I encountered my first Lucid experience last night however something felt a bit off, because I have been studying Lucid dreams for so long it felt like the dream version of myself was controlling everything, and that I was just dreaming that I could control my dream within my dream, if that makes sense.

It is nice to be a part of this community and I hope somebody can help to make sense of my dream, is this how I'm supposed to feel?

Did you ever have the thought, "This is a dream"? If so, then you can count it as lucid. Don't fret, everyone's first lucid dream is usually odd for them.

Sounds like you had a lucid dream! Although there are varying degrees of lucidity. What you had is a lucid dream, since you realised it was a dream while you were dreaming- therefore none of it was real. But, there is a "higher" level of lucidity, where you realise you're dreaming, then you actually "live" it, as if you were in your own body inside a dream, thinking your own waking thoughts. This is the kind of state where you can stop and do whatever you think of, or remember things from the waking world. Good times! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
