      Intimacy in dreams.

      I know this might come off kind of weird, hope it doesnt, Im not a pervert or anything. I have never had a true sexual dream, I have had intimate dreams where Id be with another woman and we would be doing things that lead up to sex or we would be just fooling around, but anytime it starts to go further, I either wake up or the dream switches to something else. I am very easily able to remember my dreams, I dont keep a journal but Im thinking of starting to because when I was here a long time ago I heard that by keeping a journal I can find things that always show up and use that to recognize I am dreaming in hopes of going lucid, and also that by keeping one the dreams can become more realistic to begin with. Hope Im not wrong about that.

      The weird thing is that in my dreams, its like if I touch, smell or taste something I can actually feel it in my sleep like its happening in real life. Thats always kind of thrown me off a little I dont know if thats normal or not. And like I said I am easily able to remember my dreams, even if I have more than one a night, and I dream everyday, maybe miss a dream one or two nights a month. But to the question, sorry for the rambling, is there a way to make it so that you dream about something without practicing lucid dreaming? Like is there a way to promote a dream so that you have it?

      1) Sensual/sexual dreams are very common, so don't worry - there are a lot of discussions about them.

      2) Yes you can make yourself dream about something, with a little practice. It's called dream incubation and how it works is simply this: as you head to sleep that night, you think to yourself, "I will dream about such-and-such-topic" repeatedly and you can also visualize yourself having the dream of that topic. That's actually the basis of the MILD technique.

      I appreciate that man, I'm going to search that and see what I can find as far as tips and what not, and I'll definatly try the telling myself what I will dream about.

      What effect does beer have on dreams? It seems that ever since I have been drinking more than usual along with taking 12 to 15 mg of melatonin to ensure I sleep, I have been having dreams everyday. If I dont take that much melatonin, I wont sleep, and all beer does to me is relax my body, but it doesnt relax my mind, it actually seems to make my mind more awake. Now, straight alcohol however I cant do because it messes up my stomach real bad and Ive never had a dream while on it. But I'll have like 6 to 8 beers a night, and I dream better than before. Is there a reason for that?

      I don't drink or use supplements, so I don't have the knowledge to answer that one.

      Alcohol suppresses REM (it makes you dream less). Any perception that it helps your dreaming will only be due to one of two things:
      1) REM rebound the next day due to the suppressed REM the night before.
      2) Perhaps you are sleeping better and therefore dreaming more.

      Stay away from caffeine or alcohol if you want to maximize your dream time and sleep quality (in the case of caffeine).

      If you want supplements to help your lucids, try alpha gpc and galantamine. They work but piracetam should be taken directly after your done sleeping after taking these supplements so that your body doesn't because desensitized to alpha gpc. It empties it out of your system. Never take piracetam at night as it suppresses dreaming.

      Alcohol helps me have more vivid dreams. I find it suppresses my REM early in the night, so I get a nice big rebound later in the early morning hours. Its delayed stimulant properties also wake me up a few hours into the night. That is a good recipe for awesome dreams. Deep dreamless sleep ---> Forced WBTB ---> Killer REM rebound.

      True.. if you sleep long enough you can rebound the same sleep session.

      Every now and then I have sex and sensual dreams also. But I did not know I could incubate them. I might try that tonight(lol). My sex dreams are really wild being that I am a man that is homophobic I might have a dream in that kind of encounter or a really sensual dream since I am hyper-sexual. To really feel like you are having sex or about to is normal. And just like being wide awake you might wake up to some surprises like bodily fluids (lol)this is perfectly normal don't get scared.
