That seems like a pretty good plan. Just make sure you perform RCs upon waking from sleep, even if you know you are awake. It won't take long to get into the habit. As for the spinning, if you are the one spinning uncontrollably, just make your way to a solid object and hold on tight. I used to have this problem every now and then, I would grab a tree, dresser, door handle, etc, and brace myself for a few moments. This would stop the spinning.
If the room is spinning, you could try to stop and clear up the spinning with stabilization techniques (the easiest would be looking at your own feet until everything calms down and then slowly returning your head to normal position). If this doesn't work it may be easier just to bust through the wall, fly out the window, fly out through the ceiling, and get outside of the spinning room. Once you get out of the room, you will be free to explore your dream.
