      NEED HELP please

Ok i am new to this forum so bear with me.
i have been reading up on lucid dreaming for some time now and have followed the necessary steps to induce my own during sleep but seem to be running into problems. i have been keeping dream recall for some weeks now but sometimes i am to lazy to write them at 6 in the morning and then obviously forget them later in the day. i do reality checks but find myself forgetting about them every other day. and i know persistence is key but sometimes i feel like it wont work but i know i cant stop because lucid dreaming is a skill not a gift. so my questions are:

Do i need to keep record of every dream from the previous night?

when i do my reality checks when walking through a door, into my car, and glance at my phone does that mean when i do this is my dream i should say to myself "reality check, am i dreaming?" then i will be aware of my dream state and go from there?

while sleeping does it help to continuously say in my head "i will have a lucid dream tonight, i will be aware of my dream state"

any other tips/techniques would be immensely helpful.

To be as successful as possible, yes. Don't get bogged down on small details, but focus on key elements.

when i do my reality checks when walking through a door, into my car, and glance at my phone does that mean when i do this is my dream i should say to myself "reality check, am i dreaming?" then i will be aware of my dream state and go from there?

Yup. And really mean it - don't just make it a habit. I'm amazed at how often I miss being in a dream because of the lazy streak in me thinking 'of course its not a dream'.

while sleeping does it help to continuously say in my head "i will have a lucid dream tonight, i will be aware of my dream state"

Yup, mantras help. You can change the wording as you wish. I usually say "I am in bed dreaming. Reality check."

Its always a good idea to record your dreams. Try just making notes in a notebook, so you don't have to write down the entire dream. Though writing in detail can help you have the best quality recall.

when i do my reality checks when walking through a door, into my car, and glance at my phone does that mean when i do this is my dream i should say to myself "reality check, am i dreaming?" then i will be aware of my dream state and go from there?
The reality check itself should determine whether you are dreaming or not. I strongly suggest the nose pinch reality check. Pinch off the air passage in your nose and attempt to breath through your nose anyway. Obviously in real life this is impossible, but in a dream you aren't actually pinching your real nose. So in the dream, you will still be able to breathe through your nose even though your are closing the air passage. This is the one reality check that has still never failed me. Also, when you perform the reality check during in the day, make sure you take a moment to look around at your environment. Look around and ask yourself, "How do I know this is reality and not a dream?" It only takes a moment and it can help increase the success of the RC.

As you lay down for sleep try and get into a confident mindset. As you fall asleep, don't only say you are going to have a lucid, but truly believe you will. Fall asleep expecting to have an LD and believe 100% that you will have one. Literally, act as if you are an expert lucid dreamer and know that you will easily become lucid. Its kind of like how an actor gets into character. You are getting into the character of a lucid dreamer. Its amazing how just this can help lead to lucidity. If you don't succeed, don't get discouraged. Just think, "Eh, no big deal. I'll definately become lucid tomorrow night!" Confidence can go a long way.

any other tips/techniques would be immensely helpful.
If you haven't already, I suggest browsing through our tutorials section (link is in my signature). There is alot of good information there that can help you in all areas of lucid dreaming. If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck to you in your future efforts!
