Thinking too logically or accepting DC rules?

In my most recent LD I decided to go flying, as it was my first lucid dream with control and awareness. I walked out back and took off, (It was strange, 3rd person point of view to a degree) but I was flying. I landed, and a DC girl with a basket told me that I can't fly, because flying is impossible. I said "Just watch me" and tried to take off, but couldn't.

Was this because I believed her, or was I just thinking TOO logically?

It depends on your expectations, in my experience. If you completely expect to fly with no doubts, you will. If a part of you wonders if she's right, you could have just set yourself up to fail. Your DC is a part of your subconscious, so it may have been what you were thinking being vocalized by a DC.

That girl sure poo-pooped your party . Sounds like you were over thinking things. Remember, that DC is a part of your dream, and you made her. You were probably doubting how you could fly, which is why the girl brought it up in the first place. Sometimes saying a confirmation out loud will help with something like this. Yell, "I can fly!" or something similar to help convince yourself.

I'll have to remember that. All I know is my subconscious is a jerk sometimes, as obviously noted by the snooty little girl.

It was one of my first LD's so I wasn't trying to figure out everything at once, but now that I know it should be easier!

amazing how literal our subconscious minds, are, isn't it?
too bad they don't obey all our conscious commands consistently
what an interesting life we'd have then!
