I was never able to WILD before sleep. I have laid in bed for 2-3 hours without getting to SP...
At the beginning of sleep, the first few hours, you REM cycles are short and far apart. Ideally, you would WILD after 3-5 hours of sleep. that's how I had my 4 WILDs in a week. I wake up 3-5 times a night after every dream at consistant times every night by drinking a lot before going to bed. So if you go to bed at 11PM and drink a lot of water, after a few times of waking up, you will wake up between 3:30-5:00. Then do WBTB(wake back to bed). Get up go to the bathroom and then attemp WILD. Unfortunately, that takes longer to get to SP and thus a lucid. If you want to risk going to the bathroom as you sleep(which I did 2 times during the lucid I got from WILDing), then when you wake up, try not to move at all and you will get to SP fast. For me, usually under a minute if I don't really move.
