      Greetings Fellow Dreamers!

      Hello All!

First of all, let me say I am immensely impressed by the quality of everyone here and it is nice to see a LD oriented site that actually helps the participants! That said, a quick introduction is in order I believe.

I originally came to the idea of Lucid Dreaming from a rather round a bout route. My first experience with dream control came when I was a little kid, and I told myself before bed that I wouldn't have dreams (I was afraid of nightmares) I now realize that this is essentially a reverse MILD! For years, I never remembered a dream and now I have tried to reverse the process.

I stumbled across the idea of sleep paralysis when I was looking into a way to help with temporary insomnia. One thing led to another and now I am here! I have yet to have a lucid dream though I am getting quite a bit better at dream recall. I am looking for someone experienced that might be willing to assist me in attaining lucidity. I feel that its a personal barrier because I haven't had one yet and once I get "over the hump" as it were, that it would be quite a bit easier!

I can recall about 2 dreams a night now, sometimes three, and listen to the wonder Lucidity Induction tapes here at DV, but have yet to "realize" that I am dreaming. Might it be more efficient to use a mild cue where I say "I will become aware that I am dreaming"? I feel that I notice that I am dreaming, but can't become lucid, any suggestions?

Wow, sorry for that wall of text, but I am immensely excited in getting into the community!

Welcome to Dreamviews! We are always glad to get new excited members. The staff is currently working on/overhauling the "Dreamviews Academy" program. This will allow newcomers and experienced users alike the opportunity to learn from some of the experts (teachers) here on Dreamviews. Thank you very much! When will classes get started and is there a starter class or something?

The classes will hopefully be started very soon. Just keep checking in on the DVA section and announcements will be posted. Whenever the exact dates are posted, I'll go ahead and send you a PM to let you know as well. The classes will be set up in such a way that complete beginners will be able "get started" in the world of LDing, so you should be fine. Make sure you definately take the DILD class and of course, all of the others will help greatly as well.

Sounds good, I'll be plugging away with my attempts at MILD's. Also, what is the general period for someone to have their first LD? If I've been trying for a month, can I expect one soon? I hope so...

honestly it depends from person to person. Keep working at it, and be focused on it. Have patience. For me my first LD was 2 months. Anyway welcome to DV! If you have any questions just shoot me a message.

What I have noticed is that the only thing anybody can do is give you information to help you get there but not give you something that is dead set to work. There is nothing else I can think of that is like Lucid Dreaming it is not like learning to skateboard put your foot here pop the tail etc. and you got it. Some nights you will realize you are dreaming and some nights you won't. I have had four Lucid dreams, one from a reality check the other three I just realized I was dreaming. The think I do not understand is you said you realized you were dreaming but you werent lucid. When you realize you are dreaming that is when you become lucid and start being able to control dreams. Also when you first start dont think you will be able to fly or transform your first few, it probably wont happen it takes practice like everything else. I would start with RCs and DILD first then move on those are probably the easiest.

Very true. That is because there is no single method that works for everyone. Lucid dreaming (and dreaming in general) deals with the human mind and no two human minds are the same. Thats why it is always a good idea to try many different types of advice and experiment with many different techniques. Once you find something that works for you, practice perfecting that method.

Alright, I had a weird experience last night where I think I became lucid but lost it. As I fell asleep I told myself "Next time I dream, I will do reality checks and realize I'm dreaming." I then was in a scene carrying an object upto a mountain and there was a friend of mine behind me and I thought to myself, "hey you don't belong here!" I don't remember doing an RC, but I said to myself, this must be a dream. Then I jumped off of the mountain, I don't remember wanting to do it, but this is the closest I've come to an LD so far. What do you guys think? I guess i'm aware that I'm dreaming, just I haven't come close enough to take control or something. BTW thanks for all your help, this forum is fantastic!

No problem! The only requirement for a dream to be considered "lucid" is knowing that you are dreaming. You can have lucids with little to zero control and not all lucids are extremely memorable. With that said, congrats on your progress and you are definately heading in the right direction. Just keep practicing and working at it. Good luck to you!
