No lucids yet, but having fun trying

Just started poking around this site about a week ago now, and have read a number of posts and techniques. I have yet to have any lucid dreams, but am not overly discouraged – I’m having fun recalling the ones I’m having. I guess I’ve never really given my dreams a ‘lot’ of thought. There have been a few that have been shall we say – ‘near reality experiences’.

I’m going to shoot out a couple questions and observations – please nobody take offense.

Hmmm. How to put this??? Does age matter.
As I read post on this site, it appears that I’m reading a younger crowd - and not necessarily just younger than myself. But I also read on posts that the younger you are the more prolific the lucid are (number and vividness). That being said, I guess I’m relatively screwed. Though if I can remember the dreams as I have been, I feel it’s only a matter of time.

I’ve also read about ‘attention to detail’ and ‘discerning reality’. Now there’s where I would hope that I have an edge, but I’m beginning to think that in the dream world, that becomes the great equalizer. I used to think I have a good attention to detail and maybe I’ve been fooling myself.

To this end, I’m leaning more toward DILD and WILD as the main techniques to use. Reality checks… Uggggh, that’s like teaching an old dog a new trick. I know the importance of programming one’s subconscious to do one’s bidding and believe in it wholeheartedly. It’s just the doing it.

Dream journaling is something else that’s a bit cumbersome (I know I’m starting to sound like a teenager complaining about homework – LOL). There’s never enough time in the day to do it, and I’m too damn tired during the night to record them (or too lazy – that’s probably it). Although, last night I decided to get up a record the dream immediately after or at least put together crib notes on the dream so I could flesh it out in the day. Wouldn’t you know it would have to be on a night where I recall a hellaciously long dream – but mission accomplished. Saddened that I could not get a WILD to work (fell asleep – paid too much attention to HI).

Don’t get me wrong, I’m having fun just recalling the dreams. But still hoping for that first one.

Just got through downloading a mp3 recording that Ninja had made eons ago. We’ll see how that plays out.

Thoughts and comments are welcome. Or just tell the ol’ man to shut up and go to bed.
