      I want instructions

The title says everything, but I will nonetheless extend myself in this matter.

I want anyone with any experience in the subjects of this forum to write a series of clear instructions which I should follow in an attempt of obtaining lucidity in my dreams.

Those instructions should be specific, simple, and should have the least possible amount of unnecessary explanations.

I will proceed to write an example of a "series of instructions", with the objective of making myself more clear in this request:

1- Pick your nose fifty times in fifty seconds. Do this only once, at any time of the day.
2- Immediately after executing the first instruction, proceed to bash your forehead once against the nearest wall. Should a wall be inaccessible to you, do it against the floor.
3- At a later time of the day, repeatedly yell incomprehensible or incoherent words at a non-human living being. Should that be impossible for any reason, skip this instruction and proceed to the next.
4- Commit suicide in the least possibly amusing way that you can imagine and effectively attempt. Should you fail, start again from the first instruction.

That is an example of how clear instructions should be written.

      1. Write in a dream journal every morning, to improve recall.
      2. Do a quick count of the fingers on one hand every time you walk through a door. If you're missing fingers or oozing black pus, either you're dreaming or you should visit the emergency room.
      3. If you don't see results in four weeks, make an appointment and I'll write you a stronger prescription.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

umm....well how about we try this first, and if this doesn't provide you with enough step-by-step instruction, then I will send you a PM with them for whatever method you want to try, but I think this book does a good job of doing just what your asking.

Goto the end of page 18, this page will list out a series of methods and show your there advantages and disadvantages as well as an explanation of the technique and instructions on how to preform them.

I hope this helps, if not PM and I will do my best to assist you further. Good Luck!

1- I can't do that for two reasons: Firstly, I get up at noon, and secondly, even if I did get up every morning, I would have nothing to write. Seriously.
2- That's a stupid waste of time. And also, I don't walk through doors in the few dreams I can remember every month. Taking the argument even further, if I was "lucid" enough in a dream to remember to enact that buffoonery, I wouldn't actually need to perform it, for obvious reasons.
3- You might as well say one hundred years. In four weeks I will most probably have forgotten that I visited this forum.

That ebook contains not even the most vague attempt at giving instructions. It's simply a catalog of idiocy, just like every other ebook on the same subject.
As a comment, I find myself surprised by the ability of those ebooks to infuriate and frustrate me every time I read more than one page.

This does take a little patience, before you completely give up hope, why don't you try doing dream recall for a couple weeks, i wake up at noon too, it makes no difference

      Aw, muffin.

Improving your recall would be your top priority if you really wanted a lucid dream, and that takes time. Lucid dreaming isn't some magical ability that a select few people have; you have to work at it.

If you still want to improve your recall, here's my suggestion: keep a notebook beside your bed. When you wake up, jot down your impressions. "Woke up, remember only blackness, plus a few swirly lights. Had a feeling there was some sort task I had to do, don't remember more. I'm feeling tired/well-rested/lethargic." This will get you in the habit of retrieving memories from your sleep cycle, something that humans don't naturally do.

I said four weeks as an offhand remark, but you really do need to work on improving dream recall for some time before you start complaining that the techniques don't work. Also, there is no set list of clear instructions, because everyone learns differently.

Either do it the hard way, like everybody else, or feel free to GTFO.

My response to him would have been much ruder. People who ask for instructions shouldn't be rude about any possible instructions that they receive, what an idiotic thing to do.

Listen up "Vandalf". There's probably only 2% of people who can lucid dream naturally. We're all jealous, but we suck it up and work hard at it.

Personally, I don't think you want this enough if you want some quick, easy way to go about it. If you get up at noon, then write at noon! The rest of us actually switch our lights on at 3am and write a dream down right after we've had it, even if we are shattered and just want to roll over! Or if we're not doing that, we're lying still, trying to get paralyzed and endure scary hallucinations just so we can dream lucidly.

And if one month is a long time and you just cannot wait any longer, then I'll let you in on a secret...

Boohoo. Go cry to your mother.

Of course, my good chum. If you asked for instructions to cook a fish, for example, I wonder if you wouldn't complain if one of the instructions included throwing a stone through your neighbour's window or something like that.

Impressive! The folks at this forum are aware of the ad hominem retort and use it to great success! Or maybe not so much...
Any chump can attempt to lay still. Even I did that at some point in my life. And you know what? It only worked once.

My point is that without instructions or established principles nobody can really expect a consistent result from performing a certain procedure. Your point is (unknown/null). So you can go suck on a lemon.

Oh, about the "want this enough" thing... No, really? I don't want this enough? I want a "quick, easy way to go about it"? Please, my good fellow, allow me to ask you to simply post a coherent series of instructions, so I can tell you whether they are "quick, easy" or not.

People gave you instructions. If you are incopetent enough to think it's hard, that's your problem, not ours.
We are here to help without asking anything on exchange. If you think you are important to demand things, then you can get the fuck out and go ask for it to your mother.

Here are the instructions I used, and probably everybody else did too!

      1. Work on your dream recall. Start by using a dream journal! When you first wake up, close your eyes and think for about 10 minutes about dreams. If you pull out a fragment, you may be able to figure out the whole plot of the dream!

2a. Look for dream signs. If you notice one, whenever you see it in real life, do a reality check. The nose pinch RC usually works the best.

2b. If you cannot find a dream sign, do a reality check every hour, or every time you see something unusual.

      3. When falling asleep, tell yourself you will have a lucid dream, or will do a reality check in your dream. Most people fail at this because they say it, but don't believe it. If you doubt it will work, it will NOT work.

Follow these directions carefully. Within a month or two, you should have a lucid dream. If not, you obviously didn't pay attention to the directions.

If nobody's directions suited your needs yet, then you will never have a lucid dream, as you don't feel like doing what it takes to have a lucid dream. Samael gave you perfect instructions, but you decided that they were just a "stupid waste of time". If you don't want to follow anyone's instructions, than congrats! You wasted your time!

So you're saying that this community offers something for free, but I, Vandalf, cannot simply ask for it. Non sequitur.

That's the most sane reply in this thread. Yet it was given by a person who doesn't seem to have ever had a lucid dream. There are several errors in the instructions, but I'm not in the mood to point them out. So, long story short, maybe I'll do this.

Yes, it is true I have never had a lucid dream. I only started a week ago. But my dream recall has been so much higher than ever before. I focused more on recall the first week of learning, but the second week started today, so i will be working on recall, along with having a lucid dream. The method I posted seemed to work for a lot of people. It may not work for you, but everyone has their own technique. You just have to find it.

On the plus, I even questioned if I was dreaming in a dream twice. That never happened to me before. Whenever you do the reality check, ask yourself in your head, "Am I dreaming, or is this reality?" Even if you know it is not a dream.

Best of luck to you and your lucid dreaming.

And, stop trolling, you'll probably find something useful to do. Or get back to 4chan, whatever.

Asking people for advice is great. Insulting everyone who gives you advice... Not so great. If you're trying to pick a fight, do it somewhere else. I'm going to lock this.
