Favorite Seasonal Treats

Every year, someone sends a huge gift box of goodies to my hubbies office. His staff eats most of it (it's FOR the office) and whatever's left of it, he brings home for me. The food is made by Shatila and it's "Mediterranean-MidEast Pastries. They taste interesting. My favorites are: Shatila - BAKLAVA the Fingers, the Bird Nest, and the Mini Rose. When I was growing up, my mom used to make fudge balls rolled in coconut and nuts. My grams made peanutbutter and regular fudge and a cookie made in a Waffle maker called a Gallette (?). No wonder people tend to gain weight over the holidays lol So, what are some of y'alls favorites?

My mom makes these marshmallow clumps that are rolled in peanut butter mixed with chocolate, and then rolled in coconut. They're really good frozen. And then there's the homemade shortbread cookies. Mmm...

My mom sautees walnuts in cinnamon, sugar, and butter. She sends them every year! Love them. I make no-bake peanut butter-chocolate bars every year (graham cracker, confectioners sugar, peanut butter, and butter crust; topped with melted semi-sweet chocolate and peanut butter). Everyone loves them...me too . This year I am trying my hand at an appetizer: Rye Crostini~ sauteed and chopped red peppers and portabella mushrooms, wrapped with freshly sliced roast beef, and placed on top of a horseradish/cream cheese blend, on the rye crostini, topped with fresh parsely. For vegetarians, it would probably still be good, minus the roast beef...maybe I'll make a few of those, too. Zhayin, I love baklava! Num. The Gallete sounds good, too! Puffin, I have never had homemade shortbread cookies, but I can just imagine...

Everything sounds so wonderful (except the alcohol lol. If I drink, I prefer Grasshoppers or PinaColoda's) I've always wanted to try mince pies. No one I know makes them though. Is there really meat in it? Is it sweet like a desert or ??? Great, now I'm even more hungry
