I'm just messing around, it's not really that big of a deal to me. But at least where I am, we say North America when referring to this continent. However, when you actually live in the US where people frequently refer to this country as America, it's a bit more important to differentiate. |

We say North or South too, if we are talking about either of them. But when we just say America, then most people here mean the whole continent... and Canada is on that continent |

The problem is that there is no demonym (noun for the people from a country) for people from the US other than American. So there is no choice, really. |
