      Should I use an art-name?

      YO!

      It's been a long time since I've been around here but figured this would be the best forum to post on.

      Not because this forum is relevant to my question in anyway but simply because I like this forum!

      In the (hopefully near) future I will have made enough money to move to America where I want to pursue a career in music.

      Meanwhile I've got a danish name and to this date I've never heard an "English-speaker" pronounce it correctly.

      If I where to use an art-name I've thought about Lucas West. I think it sounds pretty good and it's close to my real name.

      What do you guys think, should I use an art-name or doesn't it matter?

      If you could list your ideas as to why I should or shouldn't instead of a simple yes or no that would be awesome.

      If your real name is unpronounceable to most, then you should probably use an art-name. It'll help you get more exposure from the more ignorant people, who wouldn't give you the time of day otherwise.

      Yeah, I agree. And I like the name too. West sounds a bit too generic and American, like anyone who hears it will suspect it's fake.

      It doesn't matter how otherwise good the name might sound. An artist aspiring to be popular is going to have trouble if his name is hard to remember.
