Goose liver pate and souffles are two of my most hated. It's a textural thing.
Blue cheese is up there too because it makes my tongue and mouth numb (perhaps a slight allergic reaction?)

I love tomatoes. Before my reflux got too bad, I would buy "off the vine" tomatoes or cherry tomatoes and just eat them. I'd dip the bigger ones in a dressing, but the little ones I'd eat as is.
      I really miss tomatoes lol

Funnily enough, I share your disgust. The texture's just wrong.

Tomato are my favorite food and cinnamon is my second favorite, it is close but since cinnamon is more a spice and not really a food it has to go second. I especially love tomato based sauces. However, there is one thing I really dislike that is tomato based and that is ketchup. There is probably a lot of stuff I don't like but if we are talking about common every day stuff, ketchup is what I dislike more than anything. I can't see why it is so popular. I think it is the vinegar taste, I don't like that at all. I don't have a problem with vinegar since it is usually mixed and masked in some way so you don't taste it directly but in ketchup you can definitely taste it and I don't like it at all.

Way to ruin perfectly good tomatoes ketchup!

      I HATE milk.
I dont like it by itself, with cereal, with cookies...not even if it's chocolate! I'd rather get my dairy through cheese and ice cream alone...and swallow gross-tasting calcium supplements rather than drink that nasty stuff.

It's worth noting that humans are pretty much the only animals that absurdly insist on drink milk beyond infancy!

      Can't stand Waldorf Salad either.
Odd, because I love all the ingredients separately, but put them all together and *BARF* (Literally, I barfed once after my mom made me eat it).

Also I can't' stand liver OR gizzards.
Everyone in my family likes them, but the smell alone makes me nauseous.

      Oh, and sweet potatoes.
I've tried them every way they are made, and all I can take away from it is that it's culinary sacrilige for potatoes to be sweet. Only savoury potatoes need apply in this kitchen thankyouverymuch.

That's fine because milk is not healthy. Many people don't know that, look it up and there's plenty of info about how milk is not helping you, actually causes some damage. I stopped drinking the moment I found out and it's better without it.

I agree I don't like them either, way too sweet. On a related note, I don't like strawberries because I find them way too sweet. However, I like strawberry flavored stuff, including strawberry candy. In fact strawberry is one of my favorite flavors for stuff, but I can't eat the actual fruit. I don't know how strawberry candy, strawberry popsicle, strawberry slushies, strawberry lolipops, strawberry italian ice, strawberry frosting, strawberry jello, strawberry fruit juice and all that sort of stuff can be less sweet than strawberries but too me they are. All that stuff has added sugar, yet is less sweet!

I suppose since most of that stuff don't even have strawberries in it, I can just say I hate strawberries. Artificial strawberry taste for the win!

Wow, never knew we had such a picky bunch here.

There is only one basic item of food that I hate and that is chicory. The bitter flavor is just too much to enjoy.

There's food that I don't really enjoy, like anchovies, blue cheese, avocado. But at the same rate I don't hate them and don't care if food does or doesn't include them.
And of course, for each food there is a preparation that will probably make it nice, anchovies as a salt/fish oil substitute, blue cheese on toasted ciabatta with bread, or through pasta, and what is guacamole without avocado.

I think it's a curse if you don't like tomatoes or onions, talk about versatile foods. Almost all dishes will taste good with just onions, and tomatoes. If you ever had fresh onions or tomatoes straight from the ground/vine in a warm country you will know how great they can taste, even on their own.

Excluding meat as a whole, coconut is hands down mine most hated food. I still remember this moment as a lad... After biting into some sparkly chocolate brownie covered in coconut flakes, I was literally clawing at mine tongue, trying to get it all out of mine mouth. I have had coconut prior to that, and if I knew that treat had coconut in it, I would not have even touched it. Just having that stuff in mine mouth makes me want to scrub mine tongue with sandpaper. And the aftertaste just makes me want to vomit. Nowadays, I avoid coconut like the plague--and I always will.

On that note, I find the coconut textures from like the flakes or cut up stuff to be pretty horrible. I don't mind the taste that much but the texture doesn't even feel like it is something edible. Definitely in my top 5 of worst textures of food.

I consider myself to be very not picky about food.

But the things I mentioned (with the exception of milk) produce in me strong and physically unpleasant reactions, unlike any other food items I have encountered so far.

Off-topic but true: fresh and warm from the garden onions and tomatoes (along with most other fruit/veg in my opinon) are delight like no other. No salt, no sugar, no spice..just a good rinse yes please! /eats an onion like an apple

I reserve the term picky eater for those who don't try anything. Everyone has their own tastes and preferences so it is normal for everyone to have a bunch of things they don't really care for. It might even be fair to say there is a lot of stuff they don't like. That said there are people who never try anything new and by ruling out stuff they never tried they are cutting out not a dozen or a couple of dozen foods but thousands of possible foods because they are not even trying any of it.

I think most are probably children and as you grow up you grow out of that phase and try more food, but I know a few people who are really picky eaters as adults. My brother is the type that doesn't eat pasta, doesn't eat ham, I don't think he likes any type of sea food except maybe things like fishsticks, I don't think he likes potatoes very much, I can't recall ever seeing him eat vegetables at all, and he never seems to try anything new. He is what I would call picky, not anything anyone on this forum listed.

Hey LCS if you look at the bottom of any of the comments, you'll see three buttons. Reply | reply with quote| and comment box with a plus beside it.

One thing I'm not fond of but I wish I was, is eating the bits of fat and sinew of meat. It's very economical and it can taste delicious (as shown by people who will chew on the fat of a grilled steak for ten minutes) if you have grown up with it. I find it a shame that we don't do that anymore, we actually waste quite a lot of meat by not eating the marrow, sinew or fat.

I don't even consider that stuff food in most cases. That is stuff people generally cook to death in a soup or something. Soup fixes a lot of things. If you want to eat sinew and fat I say throw it into some kind of soup, don't try eating it directly.
