The Enema Bandit, also known as "the Champaign enema bandit", or the "ski masked bandit"

His earliest attacks were in March 1966 in Champaign, Illinois. In April 1966, at 3:15 am, he came in through the window, red argyl ski mask on his head, gun in hand, to administer enemas to two sisters, aged 16 and 18. After stealing $70 from their father's wallet, he left them, tied with torn strips of bedsheet, but with a promise to call the police within 15 minutes to free them, a promise he kept.

The legends say his greatest attack was on five sorority girls. He administered four enemas, at gun point, but locked the fifth girl in a closet, after telling her she was too ugly. The rumor was that she had to drop out of the University, and received psychological counseling to recover from this cruelest of all insults.

The attacks ended in Champaign, but began in Manhatten, KS, Norman, OK and Los Angeles, CA. The enema bandit had been drafted, and was on his way to Vietnam. Today it would be easy to track him: a member of the small set of people that made this move within the time range. But, this was the '60's.

In May, 1975, he returned to Champaign, enema bag in hand. In a single night of terror, he adinistered an enema to a Champaign woman, then robbed and bound four women, perhaps all too ugly. Not done yet, he gave two enemas to the same woman. A few hours later, he was involved in a minor traffic accident.

Michael H. Kenyon was arrested in suburban Chicago a few weeks later in connection with robberies there. It is not clear if these involved enemas. Under questioning he began to talk about the enema bandit.

Kenyon attended the University of Illinois from 1965 though 1969. He majored in accounting, and was a cross-country runner. He was found to be legally sane, and pled guilty to six counts of armed robbery in December, 1975. He was sentenced to six to twelve years in prison.

The Enema Bandit became the subject of Frank Zappa's song "The Illinois Enema Bandit".[/b]
