That's a trick question....It's both. We went over this in my psychology class.

btw I see the young woman first, then I have to kinda look harder to see the old woman

although i've never had a problem seeing one or the other (sounds like some people are old-lady-blind or young-woman-blind) i think i saw the old lady first. but i first saw this picture years ago.

For those who see the Young Woman, but not the old lady, try to picture it like this:

Where the young lady's neck is, there is a black slit... thats the old lady's mouth

The Jaw line of the young lady is the Old Womans Nose

The Young lady's Ear is the Old Lady's eye

If you see the Old Lady but not the Young Woman, just read what I said on above and try to picture it the other way around...

Btw, I seen the Young Lady first.

I saw the old lady first, but then i could only see the young women and couldnt find the old lady anymore until i read the post that helps you

how do you see the checkboard illusion, all i see is white and dark grey... i cant see how they are the same shade ? does anyone have any hints or tips haha.

That's the whole point, they seem different to the naked eye though they are actually the same. The only way to proove it for yourself is to take samples of the colors on the image, if you're really curious, heh.

I saw the old woman first, and couldnt see the young lady even after staring for ages and reading the help on how to find her. Then I minimized the window for a while and when i came back to it i saw the young lady first time! Pretty cool.
