Dude, I think you handled that situation exceptionally well.
I live in South Africa, which is a beautiful and amazing country, but unfortunately this kind of thing is very much a part of life.
Pretty much every person I know has been held at gun point, knife point, been hijacked or had people break into their home while they are sleeping. Some of them are no longer with us. I have rushed friends to hospital from situations like this, and I have been in crossfire myself. It does change how you view being alive quite a bit.
When I write all this down, it sounds kind of insane - I need to say that this not a daily occurance, you can live here quite happily without incident, but it is part of our lives. On average, 50 people are killed each day in South Africa through crime-related violence. You may or may not know (or be) one of those people. You kind of accept it, or are numb to it, I'm not sure.
I think most of the time, the people doing these things are desperate. They are trying to feed their families and survive. They take drugs so that it is easier to commit crimes, and the drugs destroy their humanity and their ability feel mercy. They become monsters.
An acquiantance of ours was recently killed by guys on Tic, which is also a meth-amphetamine, combined with other things I think. There was no reason to kill him - they had his car and his money, but they were out of their minds on drugs, so they did it anyway. It really upset me.

Knowing how to fight is fine, but when you are in a situation like Meanie was in, its very, very different to a movie.
What he did was exactly right, because he showed no weakness and walked away. The guy may have been armed, and if you strike back, he may pull the weapon. For us here, if you get attacked, you simply hand over whatever they want and hope you don't get killed anyway. I kind of laugh as I write that down, because I realize it sounds kind of , but its pretty much the way it is. lol
Its really not about bravado of any kind or being a ninja (thats what LDs are for! , its about remaining alive.
Having said all that - looking at your photo Meanie, I wouldn't f*@k with you at all.
