Buying Drinks

Ok, I've stumbled apon a lot of argument over wether or not it's ok if a guy buys a drink for a woman in a bar. what do you guys think about this?

Some guys say that women generally don't respect guys who buy them drinks. Yet i know a guy who always has women around him, I seen him turn town 4 women in a night once, and he always buys drinks for them.

Here's my take on it: if a guy is gonna buy a drink for a woman and is doing it from the place that he desperately wants a way to talk to her. or, is buying for her attention. he'll lose.

however if a guy buys a drink for a woman from the place, that he just wants too, because that's the kinda guy he is, he won't be as likely to fail.

so i went out and practiced this concept to see what it was like. What I did for a few weeks was just go into bars, spot a woman sitting by herself. just do normal "hi, how are you bla bla bla", buy her a drink, and walk away right after. a few of the women, did nothing, and it wasn't a big deal. but the majority of women that i bought drinks for i got much better response. I'd say "enjoy your beer" and walk away, they'd stop me and ask "WEll, aren't you at least gonna talk to me?" and i'd say something like "What? i can't JUST buy you a drink?". and the others would come up to me later on in the night and start a conversation.

i just wanna know what other people think about this concept of buying drinks?

I think it's just a shot in the dark whether or not you're the girls type. I used to have 50/50 success on buying a girl a drink.

well, i think it has NOTHING to do with being her type. like i said, if you buy because you LIKE to, THAT's something different. I don't buy a drink because i expect to get laid LOL. i do it because, i can.

well I'm sorry, i didn't mean to offend you. you're experience is different from mine.

I'm just saying, that sometimes it's all in your attitude. the buying a drink thing is really just arbitrary. it's how you do it.

and FYI: this isn't just an idea, it's something i verified in my own experience. but then again, everyone is different.

There's nothing wrong with offering to buy a girl a drink. I know a lot of girls here who never spend any money when they go out because guys always buy them drinks. Don't be one of those guys. A lot of fairly attractive girls talk to guys who never would normally have a chance with them simply long enough for the guy to buy them a drink and then walk off. I think that's pretty rude, so if I think a girl is trying to do something like that I don't buy her a drink.

If, however, you're talking to a girl and the conversation is going well, then offer to buy a drink. It's not something I personally do, mainly because I'm always broke.

there's no big secret behind it... it just depends on the people involved.

personally i think it's scummy to introduce yourself by buying a drink but hey... some chicks just want the attention.

it's not something different... it take a certain type of person to try it... and it takes a certain type of person for it to work on... tuff shit if you haven't gotten laid trying it.

It's not that he has his own opinion, it's that he keeps saying it over and over and over again like I didn't get it the first time.

I think it is ok, but sounds like a waste of money. I would only give a girl a drink if I had put an ecstasy pill or something similiar in it; it is pointless if there's nothing to gain.

That's interesting. It makes sense that a guy who is good natured and polite will get more of a conversation then a guy that buys the girl a drink because he's desperate to talk to her.

I knew this guy who was slipped Acid and because he thought a whole bunch of weird shit was happening to him for no reason, it carried over into his regular life, and he became paranoid schizophrenic. He had no idea what had happened, until years later. I really don't think it is safe or ethical to 'slip' anyone anything. Now, I'm quite aware that E is not the same as Acid, but I'm saying that it's just a bad idea. And, I don't think anyone on that type of drug would just do whatever you wanted. Seriously.
