If you don't like the forum then don't check it. People offending you is a necessary part of life. You can't just get rid of offensive stuff. THeres probubly at least one person who finds the thing your talking about offensive but you can't just get rid of it. IF you did you'd have to get rid of everything. Censorship in any form is evil.

I deliberately stay away from R/S. So I guess that means that it shouldn't be a problem, because if I don't want to go there and deal with the hate, then I dont have to. But some of the new members haven't really heard about it and go in there just to check it out, then make one comment and get completely bashed with insults and hateful replies. I've heard of some members completely losing faith in something they believe in just because of the comments in there. I think that's so wrong. It's not even about being offended, it's about the entired basis of what you believe in crumbling because of so much hate. Besides that, I just don't see the point. Since we've made it so it's not exactly a forum of discussion, it's mostly everyone trying to prove whether God exists or doesn't exist and it just turns into arguments. No matter what the topic is, it always turns out with half of the people trying to prove that none of that stuff if true, and the other half trying to prove it is. And since religion is something that you can't exactly prove to someone besides yourself then why would you argue it? From an Athiest's standpoint, what's the point of arguing with someone about something that they cannot prove to you. From a believer's standpoint, if it's the spirit that teaches and all you're doing is arguing, then you're trying to teach with the spirit of contention, which isn't going to get anyone anywhere. I know it started with good intentions but it's not turning out the way it was planned. there's obviously a problem with it if there's so much discussion about it going on and members getting mad.

R/S is kind of like a big magnet for hostility. the good thing is that it by attracting hostility i think it keeps some of it out of the rest of the forums. doing away with the off-topic section in general? if you did that i personally would probably never visit this site again. all of the information in the ld forums is just repeated over and over with a little bit lost in translation [or paraphrasing rather] each time. people have good intentions in the ld forums but it's rare that i've seen something that wasn't at least touched on in the tutorials. and no i don't think the ld forums should be done away with. sometimes people have specific questions or answers not covered by the tutorials. i'm just saying that if you discuss ONLY ld's it gets really boring really quick. i think it could use some really heavy moderation. if someone posts a comment that isn't really saying anything but "you're a shithead!" delete it and send them a pre-written pm telling them that they're comment was irrelevant and offensive and that it was deleted.
