The best method speed-wise is difficult for a beginner. You need to find an algorithm thats inefficient though easy.

I am unimpressed. Those two cubes were in the same configuration, just reverse to accommodate for each hand.

Film yourself scrambling it and then play it back in reverse, that's how most of those Youtube videos work

I like starting with a 3 way corner, then adding one of those faces and building it out from there.

Take all the stickers off, then re-arrange them.

Win.

Yay i got a method down but I cant do it without the algorithms written down in front of me so I just gotta memorize those

The typical method I learned (and then forgot ) involves making + signs on all faces, then shuffling the corners into the right spots, but not correct orientations (yet)
Then shuffling the corner orientations.
All steps involved memorising sequences of actions to solve them

I'm pretty sure this isn't the best method, but it worked okay

The best beginners method is using the "layer method" which I'm pretty sure you're using since you're using the book. Once you get that down, lube your cube using either liquid silicone or Vaseline (however Vaseline can damage the plastic, but not horribly). If you still enjoy solving and want to improve your times more, go for the keyhole method, it will shave about 20 moves off of your F2L, and if you get it well enough it can take off anywhere from 5-15 seconds off of your overall time. Then if you're still bitten by the bug, go for a 2 look OLL, and PLL. With a keyhole F2L and a 2 look OLL and PLL you can get your time to around 30ish seconds, well, I did at least.

Just relax and follow your heart. That's what I do. I used to be able to rock those things in no time. I wonder if I still can?
