Uh guess what...you can fit every person in the entire world into an area the size of Delaware. There are vast expanses of cultivable area here in the United States alone where not one person can be found for miles and miles, yet people beg to be executed in order to "save mother earth".

If everyone was standing side by side, sure... But to live that way would be rediculous... And I don't think anyone would give up their comfortable homes for the greater good... Wait a minute... Lets get back on topic...

Well what i was saying is why would a person get angry at a family for having children? It is only natural. That's the definition of a family.

There's a point where it becomes breeding, not parenting.

I highly doubt fining and harshly punishing legitimate families for having more than one child is a "necessity". More like greed, or despotism, or tyranny, if you may. There are vast expanses of territory in China that have been virtually untouched, but their guberment likes to keep its citizens in their nice little holding areas commonly known as "Urban Centers".

I believe the whole world should have a one child policy.
Any more and you get shot to even it out
But seriously. We need a limit here.

Hercuflea, you're saying we should replace farming land with people. That's just stupid and is exactly what is slowly happening. It needs to stop.
Yes there is open spaces where not one person can be found for miles and miles. That is nature. That is what we need to grow food. That is what other ANIMALS need to live in. They can't live in cities.

According to you we should take up every square inch of the Earth with people, have no farming land and destroy all animals.

I just dont think you understand that there is far enough land on this planet alone for every man, woman, and child to live comfortably and with all of the necessities of life.

A child is a living, intelligent being, and posesses the same inalienable rights as you and I.

      Yeah.. except not.

I'm confused now. Are we talking about abortion all of a sudden?.... Or are you just saying that "every sperm is sacred" or whatever and we shouldn't use birth control... Stuff like that?

Fuck I just lost my post.

A child is a living, intelligent being, and posesses the same inalienable rights as you and I.
Yes, but a child that hasn't been born yet? Don't think the same rule applies.

I just don't think you understand the seriousness of the situation here. Yes there is enough room for everyone. Technically.
In practice people are greedy, not everyone is equal, some people are going to want to take more than others.

Why do we have people starving?

Our population is going to increase even more. During that time more and more people are going to starve.

Look at the situation. In 1980 the world population was 4.4 billion. Now it is 6.7 billion. According to the current growth rate (about 2 people per second), it is estimated that by 2042 there will be 9 billion people living on Earth. There is a problem in this equation. We won't grow by 2 people per second until 2042. It will get larger.

This is the best explanation I have come across. Imagine a scientist puts 1 bacteria into a test tube. This test tube has a limit, obviously. The bacteria splits once every second.
So it splits to make two. These two split to make four, these four split to make 8. 16, 32, 64. It will get to, say, 128. Pretend that is half full. Just like we could say 6.7 billion is half full (I don't care if it is).
This will be at 7 seconds. What happens at 8 seconds?
      FULL!

That is an exact representation (in fast forward if you will) of what will happen to Earth if we keep going at this rate.

Actually it does. When a pregnant woman is murdered the murderer is charged with TWO counts of murder

"The Georgia Guidestones are a huge granite artifact in Elbert County, Georgia, USA. It is sometimes referred to as an "American Stonehenge", a title which has been applied at times to a number of other structures[1]. A message comprising ten guides is inscribed on the structure in eight modern languages, and a shorter message is inscribed at the top of the structure in four ancient scripts: Babylonian, Classical Greek, Sanskrit, and Egyptian hieroglyphs.

The artifact is almost twenty feet (6m) tall, and made from six granite slabs weighing more than 100 tons in all. One slab stands in the center, with four arranged around it. A capstone lies on top of the five slabs, which are astronomically aligned. An additional stone tablet, which is set in the ground a short distance to the west of the structure, provides some clarifying notes on the history and purpose of the Guidestones.

      It's first "inscription" is:

Keep humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

Now, can you just imagine how many people they'd have to exterminate to get to that kind of population? Right now, about 6 BILLION PEOPLE ; Can you imagine how barren and devoid of life the earth would be if that were to happen? It's what they've STATED that they want, though: they want 80-90% depopulation in order to have all the land and riches and technology for themselves, with a chemically- lobotomized, population-controlled race of humans so that they can use them as the "slave class""

^ We are talking about a sperm and an egg that haven't connected yet. If you murder a woman who has an unfertilized egg, you are charged with one count of murder. If you murder a man with 200 mill sperm, you are charged with one count of murder.

We are NOT talking about pregnant women.

We're also not talking about some arbitrarily decided law.
Notice that if you have an abortion before three months youa ren't charged with murder? 1 day after and you are.

That's not what we're arguing about. As Mes said.

I wouldn't say 500 million. I would propose 2 billion people for the Earth to be sustainable. I would elect myself to be killed (or kill myself) if it was guaranteed the population would never get above that again. It's no different to animals being killed to keep their population down.

This family has 18 kids now, many of which are still young, how are they going to be properly raised? How are they going to get adequate love and attention? Not to mention paying for adequate food and clothes for all of them.

and what on Earth? All she said was that she's angry they're having 18 kids...frankly I don't blame her.

Nothing wrong with having a few kids...like most people do...

It bugs me when people say this. Yes, it's her decision, but there has to be a point when she says enough is enough. Personally, I feel it's selfish of her to keep wanting more children. After giving birth to their 18th child, she said that they want more. Why not enjoy what you have, is what I want to know.

I have four children, and sometimes I am overwhelmed and think I am not giving them enough attention. I cannot imagine trying to be there emotionally for 18 kids. What's sad is that the older ones are the ones caring for the younger ones.

I will bet money that these are some of the most responsible parents around. They have not gone years of marriage just going at it like two teenagers who just found out what sex is. You know they have planned this, and they obviously have the means to provide for them or they would not be doing what they do. There is nothing wrong with it.

Oh, and I totally agree. I am not arguing that. That wasn't my point, though.
What I am saying is that there has to be a point where they realize it's enough. Are they not satisfied with the children they have now? That's what I'm wondering. They're not old, but they aren't a young couple, either.

It's entirely possible that they like having sex (nothing wrong with that), and also don't believe in birth control.

May not be the case, but it's possible.
