      Disney Movie Night

After much prognostication and consultation, the idea of a DV Disney Classic Movie Night was brought up. Mostly it was Shift and I doing said prognosticating and consulting.

So, the idea: several of us get together on MSN or in DV Chat, a pre-decided-upon Disney Classic movie in hand, all press play from the title screen at the precise same moment, and watch the movie whilst making comments and chatting together.

Sunday night (that's tonight) will be the first, hopefully of many to come. In future, we'll expand beyond Disney movies. Tentatively, we're thinking tonight at around 9:00pm EST (GMT -5), and probably either Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, or Pocahontas (though my copy of this is a taped-from TV version I think).

Thoughts, participants, and other suggestions welcome! The main thing is that we all have the movie, or can get a copy by viewing time.

Well, we can definitely keep track of when good times are for people, and adjust it to when the most people can participate!

Really, Friday and Saturday nights are best, and today is fine too. Sunday nights are usually fine for me but every so often I have a Monday exam.

Good idea but why those ones?? Haven't you lot ever seen the real Walt Disney movies - Peter Pan, Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp and so on...?

And how could you not watch Alice in Wonderland, especially on this forum!

      This is a wonderful idea!

I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate tonight(though I'll try), but I think I can definitely take part in the future on a Friday/Saturday.

I also like the Walt Disney classics paragon

I personally can't do Friday nights, but I agree that Saturday nights are generally better. I wish I had high-speed, or more Walt Disney movies on hand. Should have bought The Fox and the Hound when I saw it on Friday. I really wish I had all the ones paragon mentioned, I will have to buy them the first chance I get.

I think I do have Cinderella and Balto as well, but they're recorded from TV, on a 6-hour VHS tape, so the quality is pretty suspect.

Come on people, let's decide on a movie for tonight! I vote either Aladdin or The Lion King.

Oooh oooh oooh The Fox and the Hound is a great one - and the last one that the legendary animators Ollie Johnson and Frank Thomas worked on. Wish I could join you ladies and gents but I'm a busy man. Have fun, kids.

I'm almost a little embarrassed to say I can recite those movies by heart (thanks to a certain young family member with Down Syndrome with an incredible capacity for replays).

If I had to vote on either of those two, I'd vote Lion King. If I could make a suggestion though, it'd be Mulan.

Can't make it anyways, unfortunately. I get to spend tonight at the hospital with my sister.

Out of the ones in the OP, I'm thinking either The Lion King or Pocahontas.

I doubt that this would particularly matter given the timing (2AM GMT) but one thing to bear in mind is that PAL users will have their DVD play 4% faster. Which equates to a several minute difference near the end of the film...

Umm, anyways, the Lion King is the most awesome, watch that :p

I vote Pocahontas (have only seen it like twice, long time ago) or Beauty and the Beast (!!!).

I watched The Lion King and 101 Dalmations a couple of weeks ago
But you guys know I'm always up for Simba.
If we're on MSN you'll hear me cry, though.

Of course we are going to watch The Lion King. It is not even up for debate. The lion King is and always will be the best classic disney movie ever, and therefore has the right to the honor of first DV chat movie showing.

Obviously not even God can argue with me, for I am obviously correct. Therefore, if it wasn't obvious enough, I submit my vote for the Lion King.

      :]

      Wonderful idea!!!

I think Lion King. Rai Saix makes a freaking excellent point: The Lion King must be First!

Don't worry Shift, I might cry too.
