Sorry, Jeff, but anyone who uses canola with eggs when they have butter is a let-down in my book. And, wow, that sentence has a lot of clauses in it.

EDIT: I WISH I could enter, but my non-existent camera and shotty internet are conspiring against me. I can say, however, that red peppers, onions, cayenne and cheddar would definitely be involved.

It's cool. I'm not an omelette guru, just experimenting with different things.

Scrambled eggs have never come anywhere close to filling me up as an omelette.

Sorry for double post but I wanted to quote that and I'm terrible with this post format. Yeah. I agree. It'd be fun to have more freedom.

O's looks a little ugly from putting the egg in over the ingredients, as well as from the non-stick pan. May be tasty but I'm sort of a fan for the smoother egg finish.

CB's is what I would call the winner, his omelette is neat, flat, maybe a little (too) oily looking and un-pretty in presentation from the smears on the plate, but a winner in CluD's brown eye. He has the best egg-quantity to pan ratio, even if massacred by that sweet-chilli sauce thing.

Jeff's looks a bit too beaten. Omelettes should not beaten too much, best not at all, stirring in with a fork or knife has the best end results. Too much beating will make the omelette quite heavy and much less smooth. :3

I'm sure they all would be yummy, but for the perfect omelette some cloud is required (just a pinch).

I must find a camera and get my pan.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

      Entry from England...

      First the ingredients:

      - 3 eggs
      - 2 mushrooms
      - Bacon
      - Grated cheese
      - Milk
      - Worcestershire sauce
      - Onion

The preparation, fry up the bacon, onion and mushroom to give it a nice mixed flavour

Mix up the eggs, milk and cheese in a bowel

Add the mixture to a frying pan

Add the already prepared and base cooked ingredience, and spinkle with Worcestershire sause

      Enjoy!

I will add the egg is not burnt, it's the colour it goes from the sauce, it's a dark brown sauce and will pretty much turn anything this colour when cooked with it! I've just finished eating and it was awesome

      BENNINGTON'S OMELETTE

So, sorry about no pix, but I figured I'd share the recipe anyway, even if I couldn't officially enter.

      Ingredients:
      Three (3) eggs
One fourth (1/4) red Bell pepper
      One (1) slice onion
      One (1) small potato
      Two (2) breakfast sausage links
      Some (3.1415) cayenne pepper
      Some (4) butter
      An equal amount (3.1415) paprika
A good bit (5) sharp cheddar cheese

So, first, I baked my potato.

Towards the end of the baking process, I cooked up some sausage.

While I waited on the sausage, I diced up the peppers and onions and sauteed them in a a good bit of butter.

Once all my ingredients were cooked, I beat my eggs a little and set them aside.

I diced up the sausage, put some into the peppers and onions, let them heat up again, and then poured that into my eggs, careful not to cook the egg in the bowl.

Then, I added some cayenne pepper and paprika.

Then, I poured the egg into the pan (no-stick. sorry, MoSsy.) and let it cook.

Once it got thick enough to move around, I gave it a little lift and tilted the pan to get the uncooked egg on top to go to the bottom, to prevent overcooking.

      Then, the flip.

I cooked that side a bit, then flipped again.

I shredded the cheddar onto the egg, seperated my potato from the skin, threw the potato on, folded and let it melt together.

      I removed from the heat.

      I ate it.

      It was good.

I laughed at Adam's angles... this is a cookoff, not a photography contest! Delicious looking omelette though.

You nailed my mistake. After applying the chili-sauce the second time I realized I ruined the presentation (and that's what also contributed to the oily look and plate-smears). Still tasted incredible, but I had to redo it to make up for it.

Ingredients were almost exactly the same: 3 eggs in a bowl with a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of sweet-chilli, diced red peppers, chopped tomatos, grated cheddar, summer sausage, basil leaves, cayenne pepper, cajun spice, and parmesan cheese with un poco steak spice.

Turned out better I think. Lighting is alright but whatever!

Honestly, I've learned more from this than I have from all the years of 'cooking' I've had to do... let's keep this going, I find it very interesting to see what I can and can not do.

      -happy tears-

Perhaps we should (as I mentioned earlier) create a Cookoff thread that's inclusive of all foods in which members can compete against each other or (as PhilosopherStoned suggested) put one of our dishes up against an entirely different dish that someone put up as long as both dishes are in the same categories ie Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and/or Dessert.

Btw CB and Adam...those omelette's look fucking delicious!!!

Fair enough. I've made a couple where the ingredients were perfectly blended into the egg coating, but after seeing how Adam made his, I'm going to sit the cooked veggies and meat off to the side, and sprinkle them in on top of my next egg setting. I got my method from some cook('s videos) who knows exactly how to mix them every time, but that way seems much more manageable.

      Great looking omelette, btw, Adam.

So I made another omelette two days ago...experimented with different ingredients. I put honey mustard inside the omelette and added sugar to the egg mix.

...It was absolutely horrible. I'd liken it unto one of those 'put your hand on the skillet, you'll never do it again moments'. That bad.

Hahaha, yeah. There are a few ingredients that just don't belong on an omelette. I would say that honey mustard and sugar account for just a couple of those.

But yeah, it's a learning experience. Gotta know what tastes bad, before you know what all tastes good.

That sounds like stuff I used to do when I was learning to cook. I wish I remembered some of the combos to share but I'm sort of glad I don't for the sake of my ego. A good thing to do is pick and ingredient and learn how to use it in as many ways as you can.

      A Delectable Double Post

      • two eggs
      • the leafy end of green onions, hold the rest for something else
      • 1/4 onion
      • 1/2 medium tomato
      • black pepper
      • sharp white cheddar cheese

Lightly brown the onions. Whip the eggs and put them in a lightly buttered pan, cook until the bottom sets and then lift the edges up with a soft spatula and tilt the pan so that the raw egg run underneath.

Put the filling in. It should look something like this. My edges are normally nicer but whatev...

After the filling is in, pick a central axis and fold each half over it so that it extends past the axis a bit so there is some overlap. Flip the omelette over onto the seam and let that cook for a minute and than plate it.

For all the game I talked, I should have put a little more effort into it. You can see that I didn't beat the egg enough because of the white spots and you'll no doubt notice that I missed the fold a bit on the bottom right. Whatev.
