Les Miserables

So yay oh yay, I'm in Les Miserables at the local community theater this summer. It's been going great! I'm not a lead or anything, I'm Feuilly (for anyone who knows the show). But if you've never heard the music, feel free to check out the clips below. I'll note them up with a little brief say about the song, and if I do or do not have a solo in it. Also, feel free to discuss the show in general, or anything about musicals, I guess. Work Song/Prologue/Look Down A song which goes by many names, but is mostly known for it's repeating line (look down, look down). It also has a great beginning with the orchestra hit. (I'll list my solo's here if I have any in that song, in this song I have the line "When I get free, you won't see me, here for dust." Confrontation A great song, one of the best from the musical. The police officer who has been pursuing Jean Valjean for years (he broke his parole). They meet. Just the clashing of the voices is great. The People's Song/ Do You Hear the People Sing If there's one song everyone knows, it's this one. (I have the third "verse', "Will you give all you can give so that our banner may advance? So will fall and some will live, will you stand up and take your chance? The blood of martyrs will water the meadows of France!"

*WOOT!!* Congratulations!! One of my male cousins introduced me to it when I was about 13 years old and I've loved it from the beginning. I downloaded it via iTunes and was disappointed that all the songs weren't included (like Gabrosh's death (sp ?) the kid in the "Little Pople" song. Do you like musicals or is it something you're only doing for the Center? If you've not heard it yet, I HIGHLY recommend Jekyll and Hyde. Oh yeah... "Confrontation" still gives me goosebumps. I love how the voices mingle. Hope you greatly enjoy your role!

Gavroche's death is during "The Second Attack" I think, so it might not have been a seperate listing. and I'm plenty into musicals. My old highschool just did Jekyll and Hyde. I've not seen a movie version. And I'm ashamed to say I've not yet read the book Les Mis. either, though my 16 year old son has lol Did you like Jekyll and Hyde? It's my favorite to this day And even though I haven't listened to Cats for 10+ years, I still have the songs playing through my head from time to time

Also, funny story, I was Rum Tum Tugger in Cats, when the community theater did that one.

Keep in mind, these are recorded from the side of the stage. So audio is kinda meh. I'll throw up the DVD quality stuff when I get it. One Day More The Final Battle (everyone dying) I'm the one who takes the guy's gun while he's dying.
