I'm in some-what of the same position as you. My mum is a single parent and my school friends don't seem to understand that we don't have as much money as they do... It is really frustrating when they
know that my mother is trying to save money at the moment, but they continue to ask me why I can't go places that cost a lot, and why I can't afford over-the-top expensive clothes at the moment. They just don't get it because they have never lived my life, and they have never been short on money. I really wish that I could get a job, but I live in a small town that basically has 2 shops that someone of my age could work at, and I can't drive yet, so I obviously can't drive somewhere everyday to work,
and go to school at the same time. :\ And of course having Social Anxiety Disorder doesn't help...
It isn't like we're dirt poor or anything, it's just a self explanatory fact that a single parent can't afford the same amount of things that two parents can, and so my mother wants to save money for a while. It's hard explaining this to people, though.
I am also a good writer and wish to write something that will get published. Just keep trying; you can do anything you believe you can... A lot of good writers came from poorer living situations. And who knows, maybe you and I will end up going down in history like Shakespeare.
