      Exclamation Should I drink it?

A fourteen year old beer can of old Milwaukee. Found it in a basement. Debating on drinking it once it is done cooling in the fridge. Have any of you drank beer this old?

Why are you considering drinking this? Old Milwaukee is gross when its fresh. If it was anything that didn't contain alcohol, would you still be considering it?

Nope. But I am pretty interested in drinking a old beer. I'm not sure what the after effects will be though.

Uh... I'm pretty sure a 14 year-old can will have spoiled by now. Does it matter if he's only interested in the alcohol content? It's his decision therefore it shouldn't be questioned. Maybe to you this is a problem but to me as long as he doesn't harm anyone else than it's all fine. However staying on-topic. No you shouldn't drink that can or I wouldn't. I'm not a professional or an expert or anything but I wouldn't. You should do a Google search of how long it takes for beer to spoil.

I would vote yes if this were a poll. But It's not. So I'll have to say yes.

Well first off, we need more information on where it has been. It is a cool dry basement? If so you can probably add a few years to the use by date. If its a cool wet basement its probably not safe. If its a hot wet basement, it will probably make you seriously ill. If you ever had any type of flooding or anything in the basement, it will make you seriously ill.

If the can looks intact and new, that is a good sign. If its dented, it may not be safe. If its bulging out any where its probably unsafe. Drinking it will make you seriously ill.

To sum it up, if its a cool dry basement, and the can is in good shape, it probably tastes bad, but should be perfectly safe to drink.

I would call 911 before drinking it, you might not be able to afterwards.

      i second this.

The evening hangs beneath the moon, a silver thread on darkened dune.
With closing eyes and resting head; I know that sleep is coming soon.

Upon my pillow, safe in bed,
A thousand pictures fill my head,

      I cannot sleep , my mids aflight;
and yet my limbs seems made of lead.

I don't think in many situations 14 years would keep a beer in safe drinking condition. But that's just me.

You'll know if the beer has gone skunky on the first sip. If it tastes good, I wouldn't worry. The fact that it's in a can and not a bottle improve the odds of it still being good. I say give it a try!

      No. American beer is weaksauce.

      Drink American whiskey instead.

Things in cans can always remain safe to drink or eat for a very very long time. Normally really old food loses nutritional value and taste very quickly after it passes the expiration date. So the reason people don't eat 10 year old canned goods is because it just has no value or taste. Might as well be eating ground up pieces of paper. However, that doesn't make it unsafe.

Since the beer probably tastes bad to begin with, and since it has no real nutritional value, there might not be any real difference. Also you have to keep in mind that beer doesn't really go bad either. It just tastes horrible in bad conditions.

So between the fact that beer doesn't spoil, and that canned goods can pretty much last forever, its pretty safe to say that the beer should be safe to drink. Assuming the can isn't damaged or anything, which is why I suggested checking it over first.

So really I wouldn't worry about it much. There isn't much of a danger for anything other than spitting nasty beer all over the floor when you taste it.

I drank several cans of Boddingtons that had over fermented in their tins in a cellar for far too long, attempted to watch Twilight, then threw up.

Results are inconclusive as to which of the two intoxicants did it.

Well I had company last night so I didn't get to drink it. So just now after I had my coffee I popped it and started drinking it... It is just plain fucking amazing. It tastes like my favorite beer bud ice, But a little more heavy. Personally I think it is better than bud ice. It is just perfect, I totally wasn't expecting this. The flavor from this beer is so damn good, goes down so smooth and has no harsh bite. This beer just brings out a great taste. I'm just shocked at how good it is.

Yeah unfortunately I'll have to wait another 14 years. But overall the beer gave me a pretty good buzz. Went great with listening to bloodline from slayer.
