I think the Brits may have stayed rather anti German as a pride thing; we tend to be quite proud of how we resisted the invasion when the rest of Europe fell, ultimately to victory. That has probably translated also into a continuing 'the Germans are bad' sentiment. Almost all of it nowadays is actually a joke, but a minority probably misunderstand it to mean something else.

Also we have a large number of bigoted idiots in the country. I can only apologise for the actions of any aggressors. Along with being woefully ignorant, these people also probably have severe inferiority complexes. Abusing foreigners is probably a way to make them feel a little better about their miserable existence.

I think you may be right with your assessment. There are bad apples in every bunch, though. We have those close-minded bigots here as well, I never really get what's going on in their minds, but I guess all you can do is behave acording to common sense, meaning not being a bigotted, ignorant baboon.

To say something on topic: this is probably the perfect time to go shopping or something like that, because the streets in the city I live in are wiped clear of anything that walks on two legs. I'll follow the game a little on stream.

ha ha, I love how everyone and their mothers were discussing the final as if it'd inevitably be Netherlands vs. Deutschland. I was ecstatic when Spain won, needless to say. and I'm very very excited for the game tomorrow! As tkd said, either way a new country will reach where it hasn't before. I'm happy.

Well, normally I wouldn't care too much after the US was eliminated but...let's just say it's a good time to be in Spain. Esexially being 15 minutes outside of Madrid. I can safely say I care much more about soccer now than I ever have before

well it is a little sad for the dutch that 3rd time wasnt a charm for them, but robben didnt finish his painfully obvious chance and they paid for it in the end. Spain deserved its first world cup though!!!!
