Lightbulb Lucid Dreaming App for iPhone 4, Limited Alpha test

      Hey guys,

I finally was able to set up an iPhone development environment and started to port the Lucid Dreaming App for Android over to iPhone. Currently I'm working with iPhone 4, as it has accelerometer AND a gyroscope. Supported devices are iPhone 4 and iPad 2

If you would like to help with an Alpha test, please PM me the 40 or so digits unique identifier of your iPhone 4 or iPad 2. Here's how to find it: Finding Your iPhone (click the serial number in iTunes).

I'm looking for about 5 volunteers.

      Thank you!

I added more information about the iphone app here: Lucid Dreaming App for iPhone announced! » Lucid Dreaming App

I know this has been asked before, but since I'm in the development mode, is there something you absolutely would love to see in an iPhone app for lucid dreaming?

      Self Hypnosis scripts?
      Reality checks?
      Some special reminders?
      Vibrating bracelet support?

      Let your imagination run wild

ahh sounds good i would love to test although ive only got an iphone 3g, is the gyroscope needed for this?

I think you should defo add the self hypnosis scripts in.

Have you seen the notifications that you can recieve from apps? you could use the notifications to remind you to do a reality check, (you should probably allow the user to control the amount of times they are notified in a day.)

Your app sounds alright tho! Give us a shout if u want any help with anything

The lucid dreaming app for iphone would include reality checks, although whether or not it will send push notifications is uncertain.

Here's what I posted on my website. iPhone App » Lucid Dreaming App

Prepare to have your senses delighted by the new generation of entertainment. Lucid Dreaming App for iPhone 4 blends technology and art. Light and Darkness, awareness and dreams. Just yesterday I started using iOS' reminders as reality checks, but the thing is you can only repeat them once a day, so if I want a reality check every two hours for example, I have to make one at 12, 2AM, 4AM, 6AM etc, and repeat all of them once a day. Maybe throughout the course of the day, several days, having this reminders at a regular interval during the waking life, and carrying them over to the time you're asleep with the notification sounds, which are not very loud and I don't think they'd wake you up, it could help to force reality checks in your dreams. I just started doing this today so it's just theory, but I think reality checks in the app would be great.

What EV is saying is different, systematic reality checks in the day aren't very useful because you tend to need to be concious to perform them. The app will play reality checks so you do them on que to a certain noise, the noise is then played when you are asleep so you should hear it in the dream.

Well that's what I think he means.

The reminders play a certain noise, I don't see the difference. Could you explain further?

How they are different is still a secret! I'll explain how they are different closer to release, as a part of the app's documentation. Yes... there will be documentation!

Can't wait! Thanks for taking the time to make this. It would be nice if you could add a DEILD alarm that turns off by itself after a few beeps.

Thanks The DEILD alarm is very much the reason to develop this app. You would be able to control fade in/out times, overall volume, number of vibration or light cues.

The big question is: when to play it. The android app depended on the user to specify the times, I'm trying to make the iPhone app figure out this by itself, which is why I'm looking into biological clock, sleep cycles, sleep scoring, multiple night history and pre-existing patterns of activity to be able to tell when the person is most likely to be dreaming.
By itself, all these methods provide a certain window of uncertainty, combined, the window can be shrank down. So if I combine 3-4 moderately reliable data sources, I may be able to understand when to play the reminder.
