Mugwort (Common Wormwood) to Aid Dream Recall

I've been hearing a lot of hype about an herb called Mugwort (Common Wormwood) lately. I'm curious to see what people's thoughts and experiences on it are.

I rather not buy it, since it is said to be a common weed in North America. Has anyone in the Southern California had any luck finding it in the wild or growing it?

Are you talking about Artemisia vulgaris?
I bought several grams of powder as it is used as a kitchen spice if you cook a roast goose.

I made a tea of 2 TSP of the Powder: it tasted like roast goose and dind't work for me. Maybe wrong dosage?

Yes indeed I am! I've never heard of using it as a cooking spice! Did the goose turn out tasty? haha

But maybe it's less potent in powder form. A friend of mine brewed the leaves in a coffee percolator with good results. I'm not sure what the proper dosage is though. For some reason I haven't found a lot of stuff online that specifies how potent to make the tea

hyper color dreams if nothing else! it has a long history with inducing lucid dreams, astral travel & witchcraft. Its is worth checking out. I have grown it too. It is very easy to grow but it needs careful watching if you dont want a crop of it. Personally I do. It is a great medicinal herb. I personally don't want a field. If you are looking for a low maintainence plant don't. I have really enjoyed this plant.

I have been making tea and smoking mugwort for a few months off and on. I haven't noticed a drastic change in the dreaming process, but I do have more vivid dreams that are easier to recall.

It is hard to tell if this is a result of the mugwort, or just my skills as a dreamer are growing.

Either way I like it and I have a giant bag of it, so I will continue to use it.

I have a friend in SoCal who said she used to take this all the time, but I have no idea where she got it...I think it was at a local metaphysical bookstore or something. Anyway she said it helped her dreams become very vivid and thought it worked well.

I'd look some of those up and check them out. Personally, the one store that sells this stuff near me doesn't sell it in a good enough quality to actually ingest. :S

@Naiya That's a bummer! What do they sell it for then if it's not meant to be ingested? Like incense or something?

@Saroe Improved dream recall and enhanced vividness are benefits of mugwort as far as I've read, but maybe it's a combo of that and your improved dreamer's skills O.o You can smoke mugwort? That's awesome! Is it harsh like salvia and are the effects immediate?

I don't know about anyone else but I have drank the tea multiple times but I don't drink every day. It contains a toxin named thujone. It is harmful to your liver if you let it build up in ur system. Many people have used it iin dream pillows. This seems to be the method with the most success according to lore. You could burn it like incense and has certain magical properties reported. Personally I think it smells like weed when you burn it! So be careful not to attract unwanted unnecessary attention.

I think it's meant to be put in a sachet or medicine bag or something.

@Hijo de la Luna I remember reading several articles about the thujone. How often do you recommend one drinks it as to not build up dangerous levels in the liver? It sounds like a great plant though, I'm going to try and grow some!
