So I just wanted to post this here and get some thoughts and opinions on my first attempt at a script for an induction mp3 that I am making. |

Well one thing I forgot to mention earlier was that it's fantastic when the script induces imagery like "I am surrounded by a brilliant white healing light." It works really well, maybe you could try add some extra's like water flowing over your toes then all the way up to your head for relaxation, something like that |

I do as well |

Yes I think the success of most good mp3s is that they try to get people into that suggestible meditative/hypnotic state before bombarding the subconscious with instructions, I personally like imagery that is invoked (Like the bright light) without really having to think so that my mind drifts off. |
|
*nodnods* Well this is meant to be listened to as you sleep. So I'll not be putting any of the instructions in at all until the final 30 minutes when most people should be in deep REM sleep other than the ultra high frequency subliminals which should be completely silent if all goes well |

Very nice work. and i will add a bit of constructive critique. if i tell you "don't think of a barking dog" the first thing you will think of is a barking dog. can't help it if you hear or read it. |

I agree, as I already said in my PM the brain doesn't respond well to negative's. The same reason why mantra's should never be negative because it only takes a small spark to get the mind thinking negative thoughts or feelings. |
|
Okay I get that. So... what should I use then? For me personally I have chronic pain and it's very difficult for me to get my mind off of that when I'm trying to relax so I need some way to sort of mentally shut that down. Every time I use a meditation mp3 and they do the thing where they walk you through your body relaxing, I end up realizing how much each part hurts and then I just hurt that much more. |

what you are doing is fixating. a very natural reaction. A mild example of your condition is people who struggle to meditate because they are "itchy" now i've put that out there the next time you try to meditate you will feel a mild itch which moves around your body and irritates you out of the meditative state. why is the brain doing this? it's a resistance, a fight against the loss of self control. the inner self fears what it does not know about. like a dark ally. what will happen if you meditate deeply? what will you see where will you go? these questions are very deep and personal. fighting against the unknown is natural and your physical conditions of pain are only giving your mind a crutch to lean on and avoid the inevitable. the inevitable is that you will enter a deep state of meditation, you will experience the itch i have mentioned and then enter a deep state of meditation. |
