Pavlovian reality check & rhythm napping timer using these apps....

Hi all, first post and novice lucid dreamer. Been interested in LD for a few years now but have only taken it seriously the last few months. I have read all the usual literature - Laberge, Waggoner etc.... and I have tried to combine the more traditional techniques (MILD, WILD, reality checks) with some apps on my iphone.

Dreamz & Magic Reminder for Pavlovian reality check:

For those who don't know the Dreamz app tries to predict when you are dreaming by using the iphones built in motion sensors to detect when you are still. The idea is that you put your iphone on your mattress before going to sleep and once you have been still for a certain length of time, the Dreamz app will play an audio cue to (hopeully) let you know you are dreaming. I started using this app a few weeks ago to try and alert myself when sleeping without much joy.

To begin with I used the built in audio cues and then eventually experimented with using my own voice as a cue by using the record function. None of these seemed to work and even if they did I wasn't sure I would remember to do anything even if the audio cue did penetrate my dreams. I realised after a while that a better approach was to create a pavlovian response to a specific sound during waking hours and then use this same cue in the Dreamz app, with the idea being to do a reality check whenever you hear this sound. Eventually when you hear the same sound in your dreams you will remember to do a reality check and become lucid!

I downloaded a few different reminder apps and eventually settled on Magic Reminder as it has a cool morse code sound, a good choice as it is a secret message which hopefully your unconcious mind will pick up on in your sleep. What this app does is create random reminders using a chosen sound, in my case morse code, a certain amount of times throughout the day. I then recorded this morse code sound as my audio cue in the Dreamz app (using my computer as an intermediate recording device) and voila! I now have my own consistent reality check that is the same during the day and at night. This should also work with the Singularity Experience app if that also allows you to record your own audio cue (i don't know?). If anyone wants to try this approach and is having problems recording the morse code sound let me know and I can send you an mp3 of it.

Interval Countdown timer for WILD's (rhythm napping):

This is a lot more simpler than the technique above. For those of you familiar with the Saltcube/ Lucidology timer which plays a staggered alert to keep you alert when doing a WILD, this app does exactly the same thing. Rather than using the Saltcube/ Lucidology mp3's this app can be used to create custom gaps between the timer alerts. Pretty straight-foward but very cool.

That's all folks - plese feel free to ask me any questions or give me any feedback.
