I don't have any fancy word processing software and cannot afford $300.00 or whatever Microsoft Word. Is there a free download of a word processing software thing that is journal like that you could make your dreamjournal? I don't program or have any programming languages so I can't make my own and would not know how.

There is a Dream Journal section of this forum. Go there, create a topic, reply to your own topic when you have a dream, and there you have it - your very own dream journal. Not only that, but everyone can comment on how awesome your dreams are.

I'd rather not have an online journal. I wanted something I'd use offline and didn't have to wait until I could log on to use, might forget my dream by then

Oh I didn't think of that dreamship. Instead let me second the OpenOffice app suggested by Pyro. I've got it on my flashdrive. It should work well with what you need it for.

Uh... notepad? It is better than open office... if you are worried about forgetting your dream, it opens in about half a second, rather than waiting for another heavy word processing program to load.

I just use a plain 'ol Microsoft Word document for my DJ - it serves the purpose fine.

A good trick is to have a small notebook under your pillow, and instantly when you wake up, grab the notebook (remember to put a pencil in it) and start writing. Just small notes. Then, you can go write it where-ever you want.

Advanced Diary is a very good diary/journal software. It used to be freeware but from v2.0 and up you need to pay for it. Check the link before to download the free version (v1.3):

I'm intrigued by the Wikipedia script.etc That would be ideal for tracking dreamsigns, characters and the dreams themselves. I shall look into that, good idea.

yes, it works well because you can link, search, etc.
I also use it in combination with my life journal which i have just started. I eventually hope to recapitulate my whole life story into this wiki. anyway...

about the dream journal, there is a calendar extension that i use, here is a screenshot:

You guys use your computers for DJing? I just use a notebook next to my bed. Much easier, and I don't have to move when I wake up. Sometimes I have to write in the dark, and the words are insanely messy, but oh well.

Best desktop wiki I ve ever seen is tiddlywiki.
Its ideal for any kind of diary as it is a single file that updates it's self and doesn't need any webserver or any particular program.
Its portable small with very good search feature and you can tag every entry so you can easily order your dreams and find your dreamsigns or anything you like.

Try it, it's a fantastic tool: http://www.tiddlywiki.com/

Yeah those are good, But have you seen liquid dream?
It can store your dreams, dream characters you have encountered, lucids you have, all sorts of stuff. It also has this neat little thing that figures out your dream signs.
