      iPod WBTB File

So I got inspired for an idea last nite after reading about how good it is for lucidity purposes to wake up after 4 1/2 hours and do a WBTB, and then wake up 90 minutes after that, and 90 minutes after that.
I have an alarm clock right near my bed, but for some reason, the last two times I did that, I must have not heard it and my parents had to come in to shut off the alarm clock lol, they were not too pleased about that. So since then, I had not want to do that since it would make my parents up.
An inspired thought hit me (which probably isnt new but ill still give it a try). I'm going to make an mp3 thats going to be like, 9 hours long for instance, and then at specific points in the length *at 4 1/2 hours, at 6 hours, and at 7/12* i will put in like alarm clock like sounds. I even thought of as to put in randomly throughout the mp3 cues from my own voice like "do a reality check" or "are you dreaming", stuff like that.
The file wouldnt include any other audio, in case other people have a hard time falling asleep with the audio. I might make a playlist also on the iPod that has one of those 30 minute lucid audio files you listen to before you go to sleep, and then my 9 hour long file.
There will also be other versions like, 5,6,7,8,9,10 hour ones possibly.
Adding this to a routine of daily reality checks, supplements, MILDs, WILDs, and WBTBs, should surely increase a chance of having a lucid dream

If anyone is interested in this being a good possible resource for Dreamviews, please reply and I can make default ones to put in this main post or try to make personal ones for people who have iPods or mp3 players

I thought about something similar to this as well. However, imho it would be much more efficient to create a playlist, make an mp3 of 5 or 10 minutes of silence, repeat it as needed, and insert the wakeup sounds between those, rather than playing one solid 9-hour mp3. It'd definitely save hard drive space.

oh yea for sure, thats the luxury of having a playlist feature for iPods. im just saying your still adding your the hard drive space for all those seperate files you know. But it does make sense if you want to mix it around a bit. I'm just trying to see if anyone has tried something like this.

I use the alram clock feature on my ipod - you can set it to play a play list rather than make a noise. I have a playlist with the LucidInduction track you can find fia the Lucid Aids link here. I set the alarm to go off 4.5 hrs after the time I go to bed. I use a headband to keep the buds in.

LOL - so far it wakes me up with out fail. Only been trying it about a week and a half so far and I dont use it at weekends as I like to WBTB/WILD.

I started with the volume about mid way and have been turning it down every night - im trying to get to the point where I hear it in my dream to trigger lucidity - but not so loud that I think "WTF is That!"

The last two nights I was kind of on the cusp - I became aware of it while dreaming - I acutally remember the point at which I heard it "in dream" - but still woke. Will try on an even lower volume next week.

You should also be able to loop an mp3 by clicking the loop button. That way you would only have to create a 90 minute audio file which has the "do a reality check" message at the end.

A full 9 hour mp3 might come in handy if you wanted to play it one time to see which volume level wakes you up. You could record your first 90 minute message at very low volume then on each 90 minute segment gradually increase the volume. Theoretically the tape would play until one of the segments woke you up. Then you'd know that the volume level of the previous segment is low enough to play without awakening you.

Good idea you came up with. I might try it. I've had good success in the past hearing voices off the radio making their way into my dreams. In addition to making my message "do a reality check" I might also record the phrase
"dream dream dream dream dream dream". Maybe when I'm dreaming and those words make it into my dreams, that might be a tipoff for me to ponder what it means and in pondering do a reality check ultimately leading to me becoming lucid.

Sounds wild and crazy but it just .. might ... work. If so I'll give you a percentage of the royalties from my new book, "Lucid Dreaming:Without Fail"

hahaha that could work, no cuz i didnt know if the iPod just automatically started up in the middle of the night if you set your alarm clock, so i figured just do one all night thing, then when u wake up, just charge it up again and do it the next night. You can really play with the abilities of this, like saying "Are you dreaming?" like the mp3 is just guiding you through the whole process every night.
Yeah I think the first person to develop a technique for lucid dreaming that is "without fail" could be a very rich person

Deal then. 60% for LucidLobster and 40% for LightningMunk (since you DID come up with the idea)
I can also see a possibly profitable iPhone app here.
It would be your "Fully Interactive Lucid Dream Manager" which would

      1) Come preloaded with all the audio you'll ever need
      2) Intially determine the appropriate volume level that would not wake you up
      3) Nightly present you at predetermined times various LD induction messages throughout the night
      4) Allow you to push a button when you wake up and record your dream thoughts and any comments about the night's induction message
      5) Provide tracking routines to monitor and track your progress making adjustments to message length, volume, message content, etc until iPhone has created for you the ideal lucid dreaming environment and system where lucid dreams can be produced at will.
      6) During the day of course it could periodically remind you to do a reality check by buzzing you with
it's vibrator (or playing a "ding")

Make that 70%/30%. I'll need to buy a Mac in order to develop the app plus I'll need a Hummer to get me to LA to pick up the Mac.

LOL! As long as theres like some sidenote thing to the technique "developed by some Lightning dude that was on this lucid dreaming forum that i completely took his idea" lol.

Yeah an iPhone app would be the most ideal thing. It would be able to record audio wise your dream right in the morning, saving the hassle from having to write it down, but also turns the audio to text so you can search for main dream signs...scratch that...automatically keeps a list of common reoccurances and applies them in the daily Reality Checks throughout the day. It would vibrate as to not distract others around you. Maybe somehow have it detect what supplements to take to have great lucidity for you personally. Then at night time you start the nightly audio track, which has the right audio levels to bring you into sleep and detects when REM stages occur and will trigger the right audio cues to bring about full lucidity along with ways to prolong it.

Haha then there should be like a monthly fee in order to have it so people will want to keep having lucid dreams otherwise the app is terminated lol

      ooo the money making possibilities

I bought a Nike headband - cost me five bucks and works great. It took a night or two to get used to sleeping with it on - but after that its fine.
