so real, so intense... woke up feeling 'god-shocked'... Dream of Clarity?

I've been lucid dreaming for over a year now, and I've never had an experience this intense before. This lucid dream lasted for at least 30minutes, and it was my first REM cycle. It started out only sort of lucid, like there was an awareness of it being a dream, but I still acted and thought in very non rational ways. It started out as a nightmare. I remember wanting to just leave the dream and wake up, but I couldn't. I panicked for a bit, tried squirming as much as I could to wake up, and within a few seconds just surrendered and continued on with the dream. Once full lucidity kicked in, I sort of just forgot about the nightmare(lol) and was just awestruck at how freaking real everything was. And I remember it lasting for a while. It was almost like a spiritual experience. I cant even describe it, actually, I dont remember most of it... But I do remember being in the dream, and being dumbfounded by the whole thing. As soon as I could feel my real body, i knew I was awake, and this epic, spiritual dream I just had began to fade from my memory. I think the clarity of everything was what really shocked me. I felt much more in control too. I've been lucid dreaming for over a year now, and recently Ive been having 2-3 LDs a week, nothing this awesome(that I can remember) has happened before. I woke up 1hr and 40mins~ after I laid down to fall asleep, and when I woke up I just felt god shocked. Sort of like the feeling when you come down for LSD or mushrooms lol.

Tibetan Dream Yogis differentiate between 3 different types of dreams,
      1. Samsaric Dreams ( can be lucid or nonlucid )
      2. Dreams of Clarity (can be lucid or nonlucid )
      3. Clear Light Dreams (lucid )

I think I Just experienced a dream of clarity. Here is a little explanation of dreams of clarity from a book titled "The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep" by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche:
      "DREAMS OF CLARITY
As progress is made in dream practice, dreams become clearer and
more detailed, and a larger part of each dream is remembered. This is
a result of bringing greater awareness into the dream state. Beyond
this increased awareness in ordinary dreams is a second kind of dream
called the dream of clarity, which arises when the mind and the prana
are balanced and the dreamer has developed the capacity to remain in
non-personal presence. Unlike the samsaric dream, in which the mind
is swept here and there by karmic prana, in the dream of clarity the
dreamer is stable. Though images and information arise, they are based
less on personal karmic traces and instead present knowledge available
directly from consciousness below the level of the conventional
self. in the dream of clarity it is as if something is given to or found by the dreamer, as opposed to the samsaric dream in which meaning is projected from the dreamer onto
      the purity of fundamental experience."

All I know is I want more of these kind of dreams...better yet, id like to remember them better T_T

Ha, I have had a few LD's like that, but to be honest, my best LD's were quite short.

I think what they mean by dreams of clarity is when you actually get information or speak to entities that are not products of your own subconscious. Normal dreams, even most lucid dreams, are generated by your own mind and are heavily based on experiences you have had in the past. They are tied to your ego.

Tibetans attempt to move past their ego and their subconscious to the point where their consciousness is no longer bound entirely by their own mind. Dreams of clarity would arise when they have moved beyond themselves enough that the dreamworld is no longer a product of themselves. Its as if the dreamworld is another dimension, but usually we fill it with stuff from our own subconscious so this blocks out potential contact with things which are beyond us (ie spirits, transcendent insight, disembodied entities, etc.) A dream of clarity does not literally mean a dream that is just really vivid, it is a dream where you discover something that hasn't come from yourself.

Or, to quote from your post:
"Though images and information arise, they are based
less on personal karmic traces and instead present knowledge available
directly from consciousness below the level of the conventional
      self"

This forum is such a beautiful place, reading these kind of experiences

Just wanted to say that I don't think you can classify it as 1 2 3. Lots of nuances between 1 and 3. Even in just one night you can go from 1 to 3.

Congrats! Not everyone has experienced lucids that feel as real as day. It's pretty mind-blowing when you have a lucid and perceive your dream body as solid as your waking body. It really changes your perspective of things!

I miss those kinds of lucids. I'm stuck in samsarsic dreams lately
