My first LD knowing what it was.

Hello everyone, I just read this stuff yesterday after I watched Inception for the first time. I've always had vivid dreams for as long as I could remember (i'm 15 now), and have been able every few dreams to control things like peoples attitudes and such, and I realized I could do this when I was about 11. Now, much later, looking back on those experiences and watching inception I decided to do some research and this is the site I came up with.

Well on to my first lucid dream, or at least my first LD knowing what it was :

I was in New York in a very nice restaurant with my friend sitting across from me laughing, I was semi confused, then I found my self uttering the words "Am I Dreaming?" and she said "no silly!" but right then it clicked that this was a dream and I was now fully lucid. I could move around and I knew it was a dream. As they stay start off with small objects when dealing with creation, but while reading I've always had the fascination with Ice cream sundays after when I was 6 or 7, I would dream about them and every time I was about to eat them I would wakeup, but I was able to get one to appear in my hands. I could feel the cold on my hands, the smell of the chocolate syrup, and the condensing water dripping down the side of it, it was absolutely incredible!

After this I started to slip from my dream, the walls would fall down but there would be nothing behind them and it would fade out, and my friend started getting blurry, but acting quick I grabbed the table and started talking with some logic like what colour are those walls again? And when i blinked it was all back, I was very pleased that I was able to keep it together and not loose this wonderful experience.

The next thing that really made me go in awe, was when I walked out side, there was snow on the ground and it was freezing! But i could feel it on my cheeks, something i've never experienced in dreams before (sensations). As I walked up the street I went to a restaurant and the title kept changing, it confused me but it reminded me to tell my self i'm in a dream. I went in and my sister had ordered her hamburger from mcdonalds and she was asking if she had to pay, and the lady said only for half of it, haha, but I came up and told her that it was free, and the lady closed the register and told us to have a good day. I took a bite of the sandwich and it was gross, probably because i really really really don't like McDonalds, right after that I realized again what I had done but i was too slow and woke up. It was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to go to bed tonight

I'm very glad I found this community and I hope I can help people. I feel that I am extremely lucky because I have HSI (I have an overactive mind) and it allows me to use more brain power than most people, so just by reading about this lucid dreaming art, I was able to do it that night. Very cool. Let me know with some of your responses on what you think for a first timer.

      Hey, welcome to Dreamviews!

It seems you have a natural ability as a lucid dreamer, and have naturally good dream control. I'm interested to know how you do that, is it based on what you believe is going to happen next? As for the hamburger, I'm really wondering what it tasted like.

I have somewhat of a higher level of mind activity too, which helps me in creating dream scenarios, imagining how certain dream characters will act, and also helps me maintain awareness throughout the dream. You did pretty well for your first lucid, so congratulations!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me, another Dream Guide (the users in green), or someone else you think can help.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

With the Sundae, I had thought about what I was going to create when I was reading about this yesterday, then in the dream, I sorta laughed at my friend for laughing at me, and then I was like "Watch this" and right after I said it, it was there. I guess I didn't really have to try and think of it, I am going to try my hardest to have another lucid dream tonight, so I will attempt some more stuff, I'm most curious about mirrors and how they will act in my dream.
The Hamburger tasted like cardboard, the condiments were the same though. Is it normal for things to taste the way they taste, or can most people not taste very well in their dreams?

Mirrors work pretty strangely. Some people find themselves so distorted it's scary, but other times they look almost perfectly normal. Myself, whenever I look in a mirror there's something very small that's "off", but it's not too noticeable. It's all about expectation. If you expect to see a hideous version of yourself, well, that's what you'll get.

I've tasted a lot of things in dreams before, and again it's just about how you believe the food will taste. I've eaten a hot dog and chocolate cake; both things tasted delicious. But, maybe that's because I love hot dogs and cake, or maybe just because I've eaten a lot of those things and know what they taste like, inside and out. Taste and smell are the least-used senses in dreams for most people, but they can be just as powerful.
