      1st lucid: Reactions and Questions.

Alright so I finally had my first LD after 7 months of trying and it was totally worth it. I was so frustrated after four or five months that I almost gave up. I quit trying and it put it on the backburner and finally, out of nowhere, I had an LD.

OK, so in the LD I realized I was dreaming and yelled out/thought out "I'm dreaming!" I did the nose pinch RC and I could breathe! It felt so cool.

Then my body seemed to start to vibrate and my heart started to race. Could this be because I was starting to wake up from excitement?

I manage to stay in the dream a bit longer and decide to try to stabilize by rubbing my hands. They feel numb and that doesn't do anything. Then I try to fly but I feel sluggish like I'm swimming against a current.

Is that normal as a reaction? Was it newb rust? Maybe I wasn't completely in control but still lucid?

      This is so cool.

That's a pretty good start. After years of no lucid dreams, when I started back up again, my "first" lucid dream was completely unformed, so at least you got to move around, think things through a bit, and attempt to stabilize it. My first "flying" lucid dream since I started back up in January, I got 10-20 feet into the air, but I was blown up and down by dream wind, and got woken up by my wife moving around in bed.

At least you got to acknowledge your situation, attempt a grounding technique (which means you're thinking about it on a deeper level), and fought off an initial wave of getting woken up!

That's the biggest thing I think. I know it's a lucid BECAUSE of the active thought. It was so surreal how I didn't remember the LD on waking up but about half an hour later it all came back to me as if I had experienced it first hand not a few minutes ago. It's almost impossible to explain the feeling.

      Nice work, Jason!
It's funny how that works out, isn't it? You can try for so long to have a lucid dream, but sometimes it takes giving it up, and putting the idea into the back of your mind, for it to actually happen. Heh.
And as oneironeer said, that was a very good start. You had the presence of mind to try stabilization techniques, and that is great. What happened seemed like a typical case of getting excited. Sometimes - even though it may seem like you are only focused on the dream - your subconscious is comparing the dream state with the waking state, and just that awareness of the waking world is enough to start drawing you back toward it. This does get easier with time, though, but it will still happen, every once in a while.

Overall, though, that was a successful lucid. Hope you get many more in the future!

Thanks for the info! And I hope I get another one sometime in the near future. Now that I know how cool it is it makes me worried I'll not have one again. But I guess probably being optimistic is important so I can't think like that .
