      Finally Another One

Well, folks, this is my first post here, and I'm glad I'm not alone in this kind of experience.

I just wanna report that after a lot of time without lucid dreams, I had one yesterday. When I was a little child (I'm 16 now), almost ALL of my dreams were lucid. It was a very exciting period of my life, but after getting to High School, I rarely have them.

I was in this place that seemed like a skyscraper floor, but I didn't know the path. It's was kinda like a maze. I needed to pass through doors that would close right after I passed them, so I had to choose quickly and wisely. In this part of the dream, I wasn't lucid yet. The thing is that one of my DCs said that it was a dream. At this time, I was totally IN the illusion. But, after my projection said this, I noticed it was a dream. The problem is that (I don't know if it was because of my long period without this dreams), the dream got instable right after I noticed it was a dream. I kinda felt that if I tried to change anything, it would collapse. It wasn't like I was awakening...I just felt that I would lose control. For a moment (a few seconds), I forgot it was a dream, but I got conscious again. After that, I lost myself in other dreams (in which I didn't noticed they were dreams). Well, that's it. I'm pretty excited with the fact that I didn't lose the "ability" to have lucid dreams.

Well, that's how it happened. Nothing close to what my lucid dreams used to be, but enough to make me get excited about it.

PS: Just a question. When I was a little child, I didn't need to stabilize anything, but now it was almost impossible to keep myself lucid. Is that fruit of stress and tiredness?

      Hi, welcome to the forum!

I too have been going through a long dryspell with little to no lucids; more specifically, almost eight months. Given, this isn't quite as long a period as yours, but it can definitely be an aggravating time. Schoolwork and stress in general can really kill one's attempts to lucid dream, so I try to avoid putting myself in stressful situations. If I do happen to get stressed out (which is inevitable, quite frankly), I put lucid dreaming on the back burner so I'm not thinking about two things at once - both homework and LDing. Instead, sometimes I'll get lucids even if they're not really on my mind.

I'm not sure if stress/tiredness in the real world can cause instability in dreams, but I'm guessing it doesn't. I do know that poor stability can be caused by over-excitedness, thinking about the waking world or one's physical body, or simply failing to perform stabilization techniques (such as rubbing your hands together or looking around, aka "dream spinning"). Maybe one of those can be attributed to your waking up?
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

What do you think contributed to this new lucid? You've been doing something right.

Puffin - Now that you said, I'm sure. I got extremely excited about it. This must have spoiled it. And I'll check those techniques. I think my dreams didn't collapse when I was a child 'cause I was very used to them.

Robot_Butler - Yeah, dude. I forgot to mention that I went to bed a lot earlier than usual. I'm sure that's the reason too. But I'm afraid it's not gonna be easy to happen again. Not because I don't want it to, but 'cause I can't sleep early frequently...very busy...

PS: Sorry for my bad English.

Guess what, dudes! I had another one. But equally short. I went to bed without felling sleepy and it came! The thing is...I was at the school's basketball court. I ran toward the basket and jumped. It was there that I got lucid. The thing is that when I jumped, I flew. And flying was the thing I enjoyed the most when I used to have lucid dreams all nights. The thing is...when I flew, I remembered this fact and got lucid. I quickly remembered May's task of the month (use psychokinesis to move something; I didn't remember it was already June..ahaha), and tried to do it.The problem is...the dream got instable. I rubbed my hands together and looked around, but it was too late. It faded... :'(

The good thing is...I now know that I just have to sleep earlier to have lucid dreams. \o/
