      Strange sleep paralysis experience

I had bought a brainwave entrainment "CD" by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson for my Kindle. This one had two theta/alpha tracks that are supposed to put the mind in a state conducive to lucid dreaming. After meditating using the track for a while, I decided to go to sleep.

After I had put my Kindle down, I heard a ringing sound that seemed to come from above me. I decided to concentrate on the noise to see if it would lead me to sleep. I also began having tactile experiences (e.g. I felt my bed rock from side to side) Then, I felt what I can only describe as a lead blanket passing from my right side to my left. After that I could not feel, yet I knew it was there. I moved my body before it could progress any farther. I'm excited because this is the first sleep paralysis experience I have ever had!!!!

That's awesome, congratulations! I think I've tried some music by Thompson before and it worked wonders; maybe I'll start listening to it again. Keep going, you're close to having a WILD!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

What funny is that I have sleep paralysis countless of times after dreams and knew about sleep paralysis itself and yet didn't know I was getting sleep paralysis personally.

I thought it was just my body being lazy.

Sleep paralysis is the thought of your body not being able to move which is true but for me it was more like my body didn't WANT to move. It wasn't really anything dealing with force...It more of laziness in my experiences.

Beside my body unwillingness to move I seen a UFO-like light from my window and (with my head facing my closest door) a giant spider monster crawling around on the door. The monster was getting closer to me. I knew I was awake but I love facing my fears. I told it to "eat me", "eat me". It got up to my face but the coward never did anything. lol

Expect crazy things with sleep paralysis...If you can't move for ANY reason then it is most likely sleep paralysis. There nothing to fear but fear itself.
Noticed things in my lucid dreams: Not scare of death (kinda forgotten Freddy special power of killing in dreams, opps?) Huge ego which cause me to summon monsters, most DC are useless and don't even speak.

Wow, interesting! I had 2 sleep paralysis experiences when I was a kid - one involved UFO's I saw through my window and the other involved a dwarf-creature emerging from my closet to tell me the secret of how to fly in dreams. I wonder if these are common themes in SP? Maybe it's because two of the main things in the bedroom would be a window and a closet door? These would hold your attention because they're portals you could pass through.

Would make sense with the portals.

window is the portal to the outside world where the closest is the portal of evil or ghosts most of the time.

Also just wondering, what was the secret to flying based on that dwarf? lol I a natural at dream control myself but you got me wondering.

Thanks, Puffin! What's weird is I wasn't trying for any of that at all. I honestly was going for a DILD.

Zeikovs, the closest thing my experience resembles is having a lead blanket on you. I had to exert a great amount of energy to move.

Well, the dwarf dude told me there's a muscle located right in the solar plexus area that most people don't know about, and you just have to flex it and you can fly... more like float or drift really. I've flown many times in dreams and never did it that way, though often I do get a sort of tingle from the solar plexus area.

I laugh, I googled to get this:

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located and inch or two above the navel. This Chakra is the focus point for our power and will. Our sense of power, ego and authority, as well as self-control and discipline are centered here.
In a way you can said your dwarf is right...Maybe your subconscious pick this up somehow?

The word ego is kinda funny to see for me though. I found that I have dream control in one form or another for like forever as long my recall was good enough to remember. It was never an issue for me but I also found that I am suicidal and egomaniac in my dreams. I am glad that I asked that question.

It's actually common for people in real (I mean Waking... ) life to feel a strong tingle in the solar plexus area when they're being lifted or spun through the air... I felt it many times as a child on the swingset or if somebody was spinning me through the air, or on roller coaster. And I've noticed in some flying dreams I get that same tingle.

One thing which I don't seem to understand yet is the actual separation from my body. I keep misreading bodily cues and try to exit my body too early. Any ideas to prevent this from happening?
