      First experience.. I think

      First post here.

I wanted to post here because over the past few months I've been experiencing what seems to be called sleep paralysis. It usually occurs in the early morning for me. On Sunday night it seemed to be worse than normal and it felt like someone was watching me which was a little unnerving. I did a little research and read some suggested techniques to "break through" this to a lucid dream state. I believe this is what happened last night. Around 3:00am or so I had that tingling spine feeling and then paralyzed. I managed to make myself relax and told myself just to float away from it. And that's just what I did. For some reason it wasn't my house I was in though. I saw a couple old friends from high school and at one point saw a plastic bottle on the ground and was able to go over and pick it up (just to see if I could). Shortly after this I woke up. It sure felt as if I was in control because I kept looking down at my hands, rotating them and clinching just to make sure I could.

Anyway, is this at all similar to some of your experiences? Or does it just sound like a regular dream?

      Thanks.

      Hi phearless, welcome to Dreamviews
Yes, it does indeed sound like a WILD. What you experienced sounds like a DEILD (Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream) which is a sub-category of WILD (Wake Initiated Lucid Dream). If you knew that what you were experiencing was a dream while you were in it, then yes! Congratulations, you just had your first lucid dream

By the way, I'll be moving this to the Lucid Experiences forum

Ah, thanks for moving the post. Sorry about that.

Looks like I need to read up on the types of lucid dreams.
