      First experience... or is it?

Hey there! I think I may have had a lucid dream yesterday, even though I decided that day to start taking this seriously. But I'm not really sure, sometimes I think that realizing that I was dreaming was part of the dream and I just went with the flow instead of actually becoming aware of what's happening. Well, let me just write down the details so you'll understand

After lunch I decided to take a little nap, as I was feeling a little sleepy. I also listened to some music on a headset - just put about 9 random songs from a band I found recently (I only knew 2 songs, the others were just chosen randomly) in my playlist, decided to rest while listening to the music. Maybe get up after the playlist has been played 2 or 3 times.
Anyways, I did fall asleep. I was in a game - something like a 3D platformer, played from first person view. Looked kinda minecraft-ish. And I was listening to music while jumping around, I had white earphones. After a while I realized I can jump bigger, basicly just step through the pits. I kinda felt my legs change, back to normal. But that didn't feel strange. However, after that I took out my earphones, and after that I didn't hear anything. Not like everything was silent, but like as if I was deaf. Now that did feel strange, so I started thinking. I don't remember exactly how, but I concluded that I must be in a dream
After that I felt really happy and excited for a moment, then everything started to fade away. I was in a dark gray space, and my whole body felt numb. Like I was lying on my stomach, and was floating in nothingness (does that make sense?) I tried rubbing my palms together, I read somewhere before that it helps if you're losing control. It was really hard to do so, but I guess it worked. However, after that everything got really chaotic, and it went down fast. You know, like I was trying to do everything at once. (I thought I would be calmer when the time comes...)
So first the scenery changed to a little terrace, where I kissed a girl. (Don't judge me... ) Then it changed to a green meadow, where I decided I'd try flying. I couldn't, the closest I got to was jumping a little higher than usual, and descending really slowly (like floating down). After that I was on a beach where... well, this is where it gets strange, I tried to knife someone, i don't know why, I'm not really an aggressive person o_O But I couldn't "create" a knife in my hand, so I just ended up putting my fist on her (not punching). And she looked kind of unreal. Like a badly detailed doll. After that she turned into a real-looking girl and we kissed.

After that I thought I woke up, but there were strange things I didn't realize back then:
      1. It was really dark even though it was around 15:00
      2. My sister, who wasn't even at home at the time, was peeking through the door
      3. My father came in the room, and put a towel on my bed (?), and I couldn't hear what he said, because I was listening to music on earphones. But I couldn't hear him even after I took them out.
      4. The earphones were the same white earphones as before, even though when I went to sleep I had a black headset on.
      5. I was lying on my stomach instead of my back (in reality I lay on my back.

And after that I woke up for real. At first I thought "OHMYGAWD, that was so awesome." Now I don't really know if it was the real deal. I mean I feel that "realizing that it's a dream" was also part of the dream, and I simply dreamt that because I finally got motivated enough to start (so like dreaming of the result I want to achieve)? I mean I just started a dream journal that very same day. And it kind of felt I wasn't too much in control. Especially towards the end, where it got really chaotic. I mean I would never try to kill someone, why would I do that when I should be able to control the dream?

Anyways, it was really unexpected, so maybe I'm just confused because it accidentally happened on the same day I decided to "train" myself, or I simply got overboard and messed it up... What do you think?

I've had that feeling too when you think you had a dream about lucid dreaming. From my own experience I can tell you dreaming about lucid dreaming, being semi-lucid and being fully lucid are three very different experiences. I think in the dream you describe you were in a semi-lucid state. I had a dream like that yesterday. It's basically when you know you are dreaming but take a lot of illogical things for granted. For example wanted to go to a friend's house but when I got there I didn't notice that his room was MY childhood room. I just proudly said "Do you know I'm dreaming?" But it still was an amazing experience. My only 3-seconds-long-fully-lucid dream was an entirely different and even more exciting experience! But I think with practice and time it's easier to have higher quality lucids but maybe it's only up to luck...

Be sure to practice MILD, Reality Checks, and All Day Awareness (one of the best techniques I think) regularly. Here is the best All Day Awareness tutorial I know of: KingYoshi's ADA tutorial
