      Reading while Lucid

I've heard that one of the foolproof methods of discovering that you are dreaming is to attempt to read something. Well, maybe this is just because I read all the time when awake, but I have no trouble reading while in the dream state. In fact, I spend about a 4th of my dreams catching up on my reading

Has anyone else had this experience? And if so, what kind of books do you read while dreaming?

Since none of the books I have read in my dreams seem to exist in the waking world, I've considered the possibility of transcribing them when I awake. Of course, I won't be able to remember everything exactly as it was written down, but I would be able to convey the general idea of what I read. Has anyone else tried this? If so, do you have any tips or advice?

Maybe it's just because I'm a bibiophile but this aspect of lucid dreaming excites me even more than flight.

      Hi there.

I personally have trouble reading when I am in a dream. I can read some stuff, but soon enough they would morph into something else. But it is different for everyone. Our dreams are affected by our lifestyle, diet, mindset, etc.

That's great that you can read well in dreams, and I think it's a nifty idea to try to transcribe them, although it can be challenging. Have you tried autosuggestion? That can help you with remembering what you read. You can use mantras before bed like "I can remember what I read", "I can read perfectly", or anything along those lines. It is not 100% guranteed, but what's the harm in trying right? At the very least it can improve your chances of remembering them.

Whatever you read might provide some interesting information! Do tell us when you figure it out.

      See ya!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I wonder however if you are just dreaming about reading which is very possable. What I mean is you seeing an image of you reading, while a fantasy of what is being read is also going on. You may be different than most people, but maybe you only experience a dream about reading

Here is what I mean, try actually looking at the printed words and analize if the charectors are true letters in normal and understandable patterns. Usually I can read as many as four words and not have them mess up too much. If I attempt to read a whole sentence it gets horribly misspelled and many of the charectors become jibberish. Then attempt to read the same sentence again two more times while carefully watching the letters

If you can do that and the letters are stable, the words stay the same and you can reread a sentence twice, then you may indeed be different then most everyone else.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

I have never seen words in my dreams. But hear often voices that talk in a poetic manner, but can never remember fully the poems only snippets.
