I would suggest you go ahead and write it in your DJ though - will you be able to remember it in full detail a year from now? Plus a dream journal serves many purposes - for one it makes you think much more deeply about the dreams - if you just wake up and say "Oh yeah, I remember the dream" then you're not really getting into the details the way you need to in order to write it all down in order. And then of course when you have a week's worth of dreams or so written down you read them and you can begin to spot patterns and trends that you'd never notice otherwise - this is how you find your dream signs. Go through with a highlighter and highlight any things that tend to turn up frequently in your dreams. Another good reason - years from now you might pick up your DJ and start reading and be all like "Oh wow - I had completely forgotten about most of these!!" - it's amazing how spotty memory is unaided - keeping good records of dreams is very important.
