first lucid and OBE? scary as heck

Ok so last night for the first time i became lucid for the first time. I dont want to run on too much but id like to explain the whole thing and then get some opinions on what happened.
When i went to sleep last night my daughter was laying inbetween me and my wife because she didnt want to sleep in her own bed for some reason.
Anyway to begin my dream, it was all kind of random, at one point i was buying puppies....a while later i had been in an arguement with a bunch of people over who knows what and what i remember most about that part was that my teeth were all about to fall out....i could wiggle all of them and they all wanted to push forward like when your tooth is loose in real life as a kid....ok so thats all pretty much unimportant random stuff....
So all the sudden in my dream i decided i was going to go to sleep and then i woke up in my dream and i was like some military combat type person running down a hall, someone was following me but im not sure who, then i realised i was dreaming, and i actually think i said "oh shit im dreaming" sorry for the explicitive. And it was VERY short lived because i got really excited that i was lucid and i was immediately awake....id say i was awake for about 15 or 20 seconds and i decided to close my eyes and fall back asleep

This is where i got scared.
I closed my eyes and i was laying on my back which is usually something i dont do. Very slowly i could feel my body tingling and then it covered me in almost an instant. Then i felt as if my body were vibrating very rough, almost violently it felt very uncomfortable. Its hard to explain the feeling, almost like your violently shivering but your body isnt moving....anyway it scared the hell out of me, ive read some on OBEs and i had a feeling this was the beginning of it, though ive attempted it before, i was not feeling comfortable with this. I tried to open my eyes but they would barely open, my room was almost entirely dark but the hall way light was on and our door was cracked a little, my focus was to look that direction so i could get some marker point i guess....i just wanted to look that way. My eyes would face that direction, but i couldnt move my head or my body, i tried so hard but i couldnt move, i tried calling out to my wife, i think i could get out a quiet grunt, but that was about it. I also felt like there was someone in the right side of the room, but i never saw anything, it just felt lie someone was there, but i didnt feel threatened. I shortly regained the ability to move and i looked over at my wife, she had woken up but i didnt want to scare her with it, im about to explain it to her over email while shes at work though. The rest of my evening was uneventful. I did take a 3mg melatonin pill before sleep as i have been the past 3 nights.
Im sorry this is running on everyone but id just like to get some opinions, maybe someone else has had this happen

      Congrats on your first lucid!

Don't worry, most first LDs are short, because people wake up from excitement. Tell yourself during day, that next time you will stay calm.

And the vibrations - that was beginning of a WILD. You could have gotten a twofer last night.

You could have either stay with it, keep your eyes closed, don't worry about moving, and wait for a dream to start behind your closed eyelids, or enter into dream some other way. Sensations, HH and types of entry into WILD.

Usually after vibrations or some other sensation, you can get up from bed, or roll out with your dream body. When you do that, you will find yourself in LD. Good luck

Thanks gab, i appreciate the info, but as far as the vibrations....i mean do they feel violent? If you were in my position, as a first timer...lol do you think you may interpret the vibrations as violent. I mean thats essentially what made me try my hardest to come out of it. They felt so uncomfortable and rough...if they hadnt been so intense i may have continued on, it really scared me lol

I did have very intense vibrations once. Since then, they are very gentle and more like a massage. I guess it depends on the individual, if you decide you like these sensations, or not.

But I understand, first time, when you have no idea what's going on, you may wanna end it. But, they lead to a LD. You may wanna ride it out next time. And next time, they may be more gentle, or you may not get them at all. Instead you may get falling, or flying, or being twisted into a pretzel sensation, or none at all. Best to be ready, but don't expect anything. Just observe passively.

Alright ill definately try not to abandon things so early next time. Do you think LDs are easier to get after theyve happened the first time? Im just scared i wont get another chance at it for a while. Who knows though

Absolutely, they are easier, because now you know, that you can. And you got a taste of WILD process too.

Know that you can, practice daytime awareness, add emotions to your RCs, do mantras, write in DJ. Collection of techniques for DILD. You will have your next one in no time.

Awesome, ill keep trying, ill keep taking melatonin also. Which technique do you think is easiest for a beginner? It seems the WILD technique is difficult for alot of people, ill check your link too, thanks

Hi sounds like an awesome dream! I think what you just had was sleep paralysis i had that the first time i lucid dreamed and it was really scry for me.
A mans neck extended and made that 'click' sound every time! But you just have to think its not real.

Lol well i wish i had let the vibrations do their thing. Maybe ill try setting my alarm for 5am and see if i can do it again....this all happened at about 5am so maybe thats a good time lol. Ive also thought that maybe it also happened because my daughter was laying next to me and she creates alot of body heat. Maybe thats a toddler thing, i dunno haha

i used to get those violent vibrations constantly but now it's only off and on that they even come. you need to research sleep paralysis and you'll see that that is only one of MANY symptoms that people experience during transition to a lucid dream state. I've had them mostly during WILD method but also in DILD. and not to scare you worse but..you definitely might feel like you are being lifted out of your body at some point. the more experiences you have you will begin to get used to it and even comfortable with the different symptoms that can happen. for me it's very common to hear loud voices, people talking like a talk radio station, very loud wooshing sounds, animal sounds, seeing through closed eyes, feeling of movement or floating, spinning in circles, and yes even sometimes images that can be scary, the list goes on and on. but again the more experiences you have you'll realize there is no reason to be scared.

Ive been trying to do it again since it happened. I really wish i had let it happen instead of try to pull myself out of it. The closest ive came is some tingling....i feel disconnected from my body...and i hear the wooshing too, kind of like a truck getting closer bit then it goes away when i hear it. Ill keep trying thouugh haha

Yeah same here, i lose the sound. I have a hard time trying to just let it hsppen, i hear it and i get excited, i feel my heart atart racing and i start breathing faster unvoluntary. Its gonna take alot more time perfecting lol but i think melatonin is definately helping me, ie thought about trying to double the dose, but i dont know yet
