      was i lucid?

So i have been working on dream recall and reality checks(not as much as i should) for a bout two months now. This was my third wbtb method ive tried and i think it might've worked but im not sure. So towards the end of my dream i thought hey this must be a dream its to crazy not to be. i stopped did a reality check by looking at my hands and counting fingers. my hands were oddly shaped and several fingers were missing. I thought yes i am dreaming and thought don't get excited so i can stay in. But it was weird it seemed as though i was frozen staring at my hands rapidly getting more excited and the dream slowly turned a bright white except my hands, it then turned black and i realized i was awake just my eyelids were closed. So was i lucid? if so why did i freeze up? also ive noticed during wbtb i have a hard time falling back asleep, is that normal?

Hmm.. Sounds a little like my first lucid, I told myself not to get excited bt I still did, the dream scale then got based and bright as it slowly began to de-stabalize, which sounds like what happens to you. Even though you told yourself not to get excited I think it still did happen as it can be very exciting first time round.

Congrats on the first lucid dream!
It's common for the first lucid dreams to be short because we get excited, don't worry, it's pretty normal, and dream length will definitely improve with practice as you get more lucid dreams.
As for hard time falling asleep, it could be that you did too much activity between waking up and WBTB or it was too long. Experiment with those values till you get what works for you.

      Congrats on your first lucid!!!
It sounds a little bit like my first one..A monster was invading my room (it was a FA) and I realized my TV had a hole in it. I realized I was dreaming and yelled go away, and I felt the presence leave. I got excited after my first command though and immediately began thinking ahead when boom, it started fading. It wasn't like yours where it got bright then dark, it was opposite. Everything got dark, then bright, and then I was awake and was staring at the inside of my eyelids. It's normal and yes, you were lucid. My second one was MUCH longer, so yours very well might be too.

Yes, this was a lucid, and practice will eliminate your freezing problem. Congratulations though.

Sounds like my first lucid back when I started consciously trying for them in high school. It had taken weeks of not-very-dedicated practice before I went lucid. Unfortunately, the lucidity did not kick in until all senses except motion and touch were gone. All I could do was climb through a window I knew was nearby and launch myself into the air. I felt the wood beneath my fingers and the motion of flight, but it was only there for a single instant before that faded too.

Sounds like these are the growing pains we have to suffer through Good job getting started!
