Thumbs up My first lucid dream!!

      Hello everyone, I'm new here

I was practicing lucid dreaming (MILD) for about 2 weeks - started a dream journal and began doing RCs and occasionally ADA. But I never thought I'd achieve a DILD after only 2 weeks!

      So, to the details:

I did some MILDing when I went to sleep. I set an alarm for 6:30 in order to attempt FILD (there's a thread about it here but I can't post links yet) but woke up naturally a bit before that and turned off the alarm. I started relaxing and waited until I was very tired to try doing the FILD thing but I guess I forgot about that and just fell asleep. (I came across FILD when the topic took over the lucid dreaming subreddit with tons of success stories. I tried it 4 times and it hasn't worked yet for me)

      The dream:

I was in an indoor place with a bunch of people my age. It was the entrance to some auditorium. The doors were opened slightly and we could see strange stuff inside. Apparently there was a dragon-like monster inside the auditorium.
People start to panic and I'm not sure what their plan is, but I tell them "I'm going upstairs to find a fire escape." So I move away from them, and when walking alone somewhere at this time I just spontaneously think to myself "Hey, I'm dreaming!" without doing any RCs... just like that. And I was sure of it. I started getting excited but remembered I should calm down and I did.

I had planned things to do while lucid since I started with lucid dreaming, and I remembered first thing I wanted to do is spin and imagine being in a field. That didn't work so well, the spinning was realistic (I didn't float and spin rapidly or something) and it didn't really do anything. So I decided to focus on small details. I looked at signs around me and they were real letters and words but they didn't make any sense.

So after stabilizing a bit from that I decide to move on with my checklist. Next thing I had planned while lucid is to fly (over a field hopefully but I couldn't get to one this time). Spinning didn't do anything before so I kept walking and looked for doors. There was an opening through a wall which was like a very opaque glass, and when I walked towards it I saw a blurry city. I started running towards it. I got to the edge and jumped and started flying over the city.

After a few minutes I landed somewhere, lost lucidity and woke up.

Congrats on the first lucid dream!
Were you actually fully expecting scene to change when spinning, or you had a doubt? Expectation is important in dream control, so try to getting rid of any doubts you have. Also dream control improves with practice, so even if you didn't have any doubts, don't worry. Also check out this tutorial: Dream Control Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

No, the problem was the spin itself, I just didn't really spin, kind of like when you try and spin halfway around one side and stop. Thinking about it, I hadn't really put that much effort into it at all.
