I also use lucid dreaming techniques while I'm awake to control how I experience things. Mainly, I use these techniques to mitigate anxiety. I had this dream after months of worrying that I would have to figure out how to cause anxiety extinction. I had sorted out mitigation. I've got that down. But the prospect of having to sort out an entirely new set of tools to make anxiety go away entirely was rather daunting. After this dream, however, I realized that if I simply continue to practice them, that they'll sink in deep and deeper. Eventually, my subconscious will begin to use these techniques and eventually the anxiety might never bubble up to my conscious mind. Once that happens, it's done. No more anxiety. It was a pretty big weight lifted off of me. It also means I can focus more on what I've been doing rather than trying to find something new and different. It's a pretty big deal. |
