Two lucids two nights in a row?!

Hey DV, I haven't had a lucid dream in ages but all of a sudden I had one two nights ago and also last night? My dream recall lately has been poor so I don't remember much in them but I definitely remember doing a reality check in both of them. But here is the weird thing.. in both of my dreams I knew I was dreaming before I did my reality check and this has never happened before. The first one I was standing still and thought to myself "I'm dreaming." I did the reality check and I became lucid. The second time I looked into a mirror and said "Looks like I'm dreaming again" and then did a reality check. I can't really think of what would have caused me to have two in a row other than both times I really had a pee early in the morning and the lucid happened after I went to bed for the second time. I also got around 10 hours of sleep both times. Just thought I'd share because I'm pretty darn happy from going from not having one in months to two in a row!

      Hi, congrats on the lucids!

As for your reality check concern: I think the purpose of reality checking in waking life is to build up awareness, and the purpose of reality checking in dreams is to validate that you are dreaming. Although many people do random reality checks out of habit and get lucid, the real reason we reality check in the first place (while nonlucid) is because subconsciously we noticed something off already (due to awareness which we acquire from waking reality checks), and that is when we reality check in the dream—to prove our suspicion. In your case, it went along very normally that you got lucid first, THEN did a reality check to confirm.

Furthermore, I think those short pee breaks helped a lot, since they served as a sort of mini WBTB, giving you just the right amount of wakefulness to retain and use when you started to dream again.

And also we love you too

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

      Yo and congrats on lucids!
As paigeyemps said, reality checks in waking life are for practicing awareness and questioning mindset, and in dreams that awareness and questioning mindset is what makes us lucid.
As for dream recall, here's a great thread to read which lists some techniques which can help recall: http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-sign...ompendium.html
