I've never personally tried something like commanding a Napoleonic army on the battlefield, but I could see how it would be most interesting, probably fun, and doable.
I think that if you establish each of the various units (infantry brigades, cavalry, artillary, etc) as individual DC's, you could probably sit on a hill above the fray and successfully manipulate your army to victory. If you take Therome's suggestion and allow your dreaming mind to manipulate the enemy ranks, you might be in for a real adventure, if not a humbling one!
