      First Lucid Dream

      Hey,

Well, after several weeks of trying I had my first lucid dream about a week ago. It may sound kind of boring to the reader, but to me it was amazing. What made it especially amazing was that I hadn’t had any dream recall for several days because of a mild cold. So here is my first lucid dream.

I was wondering thru a deserted train station. I looked around and noted how everything was very clean and modern, with a lot of white walls and polished steel. I stood in an empty line waiting for my train to arrive. Soon I was joined by a group of people waiting for the same train, as the train rolled up a woman turned to me and said
“Isn’t it amazing? The train always arrives traveling at three miles per hour.” I found this remark kind of odd, but didn’t think anything of it.
The train stopped and we boarded, even though I was completely unaware I was in a dream, everything did seem strange. I was also aware that the destination of the train had something to do with dreams. We rocketed out of the station at a terrifying pace, this is when I finally noticed that the train car was not enclosed, it was in fact completely open. I hung on with all my might as the train soared thru turns, over ponds and rivers, and along dikes. I soon realized that there was some sort of force that was keeping me from falling out of the train car; I began to relax a bit.
An old man turned to me and said something regarding some rare birds; I did not understand him due to the very loud freight train that was now behind us. I replied “what?” he turned to another old man and said “see? That lad knows something about bird watching.” I didn’t think much of this because I had now fallen off the train.
I fell onto the aft deck of a boat that was cluttered with all sorts of furniture and potted plants. I wandered around for a bit before realizing that I had lost my pants. I began to criticize my self for being so careless. After wandering around a bit more I found my pants and put them back on. I also found a packet of papers that I began to read, I then realize that it was a biography of my own life, except that whoever wrote it got it all wrong. These were things that had never even experienced. I came to three possible conclusions.

      1- They are lying.
      2- I have amnesia.
      3- I am dreaming.

Then I became lucid. It was a very weak sensation, so I closed my eyes. Everything went black except I could see my hands perfectly, the sensation was intense. I opened my eyes again and it began fading so I closed them again and again the sensation of being aware I was dreaming was amazing, I was overjoyed. I thought about what I should do, then because I was happy the way I was, I decided to just stay like that. I slowly opened my eyes and the sensation left me, I was now in the dream with no lucidity. I looked over and saw some women talking about breast implants. I then woke up.
I was lying in my bed; I could remember nothing, not even that I had achieved lucidity. I was about to give up recalling my dream and go back to sleep, at that moment my mind released the experience to me and I was able to record it in my journal. I couldn’t get back to sleep for an hour because I was so excited about achieving lucidity.

      Nick.

I know what you mean when you say
It may sound kind of boring to the reader, but to me it was amazing.[/b]
My first LD was during an afternoon nap. I cant remember how exactly i acheived lucidity but i was suddenly aware i was dreaming. All the colours and sounds were amazingly 'real'. I can remember moving my actual feet in my bed and realizing that i was wearing shoes and thinking to myself in my dream, "Why am i wearing shoes in bed". My actual dream wasn't very significant: i was walking around a house that i'v never seen before in my life, i can remember jumping down a bank and being amazed at how i could feel the pressure on my legs when i landed. Then i went and tried to find someone to "have fun with" =p Didn't work though......never does unless i'm in an actual dream, and that is still rare. Oh well. Better luck next LD

Enjoy all your LD's and remember not to get depressed if you can't seem to have any more, they will come to you, they sometimes just take time and patience.

      Happy dreaming, Glor.

      Dear Sengo,

Now that you are Lucid Dreaming, you should develop something of a Lucid Dream Checklist which should consist of two parts, the first part being things that you always will do in Lucid Dreams (in order to establish, focus and strengthen them) and then the section of the List that involves items that you wished specifically to do in your next Lucid Dream.

Allow me to share my Lucid Dream Checklist. I remember it as S.F.L.A (San Francisco Los Angelas) and it stands for STOP FOCUS LOTUS AUM. My first assumption is that Lucid Dreams are always more important than whatever dream action was taking place in the ordinary dream. So the first thing to do is STOP whatever I had been doing. It is no longer important enough to continue, or not without thinking about it first. Next is FOCUS, which has come to include all those little exercises for intensifying Lucidity. I look at my hands... which used to appear weird, but now they have developed quite a geometrically spiritual look. It seems to fix me in my lucidity. I also increase my rate of breathing and its depth, which intensifies the Lucidity a bit. I then levitate upward and bring up my legs into a Lotus Position and then intone an AUM. From there I am transported to whatever Dream Scene my Higher Mind had been planning for me. Recently, on my Ad Hoc Checklist, I have been trying various Prayers and Mantras. You see, the Dream Realms virtually resonate with Collective Vibrations. In such situations, to repeat Prayers and Mantras that have been the vehicles for the spirituality of Millions of Souls who have come and gone, well, it taps into a great deal of power.

Thank you both for your replies. I have kind of had a list of several things to do in a lucid dream, but I hadn't thought to actualy include things to determine that I was in one. I guess I figured I would just wing that when the time comes, but now I'm writting it down on a piece of paper to commit it to memory. Luckily I haven't had to much trouble with losing my determination to lucid dream because everytime I recall a dream it feels like progress to me. If you knew me you would know how amazing it was that I have been sticking with this as long as I have, usually I have several projects going on all at the same time, none of which get completed.

      Thanks again,

      Nick

well done The first LD always seems amazing, even if it is a bit boring! Same as you, my first came after a long period of not remembering anything in dreams. Strange, huh?

Yeah, while looking around the forum I've noticed that seems to be the case for many beginners. Many also say that once they decide to give up trying they have one very soon. I suppose they key to lucid dreaming is not to try.
