Had my first induced lucid dream yesterday!

Well I can say I finially did it. I've been reading about lucid dreaming for 3 months now and have been trying to get WILD down. I had 2-3 lucid dreams in the past before I knew what they were, but I finially had one that I induced.

The past month I have had progress before the lucid dream. I was trying to WILD during a nap, and went unconcious for a minute then woke up in sleep paralysis. I couldn't move and saw an evil spirit, etc. This kind of scared me for a day or so, but I got over it.

After that occassion I achieved sleep paralysis 2 more times. I think I notice the ringing noise now and it wakes me up just enough to not actually wake up.. it's strange. something to do with that buzzing noises.

Anyways, yesterday I took a nap and just went with the flow with falling asleep. I work at wal mart, and during the imagery part I was having a daydream of some sort of me building an endcap. For some reason there were 2 tiny pallet jacks stuck in the endcap, and I tried pulling it out with a lot of effort. Right when I tried to pull it, I was in sleep paralysis. This time I didn't get scared and I let it continue some more.

Shortly after that I saw a green glowing door surrounded by blackness. I knew this was my time to jump in my dream, so I ran and jump through the door and I was in the dream!

As soon as I entered the dream world, I was so excited I ran and just took off flying without even thinking about it. I landed shorlty after that. Basically the whole dream, I let my mind control the scenery and just went with the flow just to analyise how a dream actually works. I did some things I wanted to do, but also let my dream take form itself as well.

At one point I was on my front porch which is screened in, and just jumped through the screen. After that I went and picked up a stick and to my suprise I could feel the weight of the stick and the texture. I rubbed my hands on the grass and also felt it. It was amazing! Then some people asked if I had a lighter, I just stuck out my finger and a bright purple glow came out the tip of my finger and I lit their cigarettes.. lol that was pretty fun.

The only thing I DIDN'T like about my first induced lucid dream was how long it was!! I've read that people's longest is like 10-30 minutes. Well mine lasted about an hour! The last 15 minutes of it or so, I was wanting to wake up but I couldn't. I imagined myself lying on my bed and taking my sleeping mask off and tried a bunch of things, but I couldn't wake up. It was odd, when I would "take of my sleeping mask" I would feel my face and the mask was still on, lol! I got entertained again by taking off my sleeping mask about 10 times in a row, pretty weird stuff.

I tried getting real excited to wake up, but nothing worked. After about an hour I finially woke up. An hour in the dream world felt like 3 hours. In the end I was glad I woke up so I could reflect on the whole event. Next time I do a WILD, I'll make sure I'll have plently of things planned out to do next time. I will also work on my dream control and change the scenery myself next time. Maybe trying too hard to change your dreams makes them end quicker? Who knows.

Anyways, I hoped everyone enjoyed my first lucid dream report! Thanks for reading

Congrats on your WILD! One hour lucid is awesome. Most people struggle with waking up too soon so there's not a lot of posts on how to end an LD.

Some people say if you close your dream eyes and keep them closed you can wake yourself up. Other people find if they try and have lucid dream sex they wake up right away

It will be interesting to see if you continue to have long LDs or if doing dream control or tasks affects the length.

      Congrats...

on your first LD and the fact that it lasted so long. Mine seem to only last a few minutes.

      Congratulations!

Waking up is pretty easy if you do it right, you don't have to try all the methods that people have. You seem like a strong character, all i do when i want to wake up is just let go of the dream, it's hard to explain, you just have to realise your body is still in bed, then let go of the dream. You just kinda think "OK, im waking up now" and let the dream go. I assume it'll work for you as i think you're a strong character.

Gaahh, people just can't grasp how simple it is. Just do it!

Thanks for the replies! And for tips on WILD.. Well I'll tell you my experience with WILD.

When I first tried doing a WILD, I was comparing my experiences with other people's experiences. Firstly, the imagery part. When I read through about it, I read a lot about hallucinations, hearing sounds, seeing things, etc. So when I'd try a WILD, I'd just get random abstract thoughts and "mini dreams" as some people say on the forum. I'd get frustrated and say "why am I not seeing these weird images or hearing these sounds." What you must realise is everyone will have slightly different experience. I don't "see" or "hear" things, I'm just merely having those off the wall thoughts and maybe have some dialogue or sound with it. To me, I don't actually have hallucinations, it's just thoughts.

The key (in my opinion) is just to let these thoughts flow and do not analyize them. Using your thinking mind is the last thing you should do. Just notice your thoughts and observe them passively and just let them go. Do not try to control them, or compare them, or think about it. Just let them pass through your mind. When I did WILD, I didn't even concentrate on my breathing or anything. It's hard to explain.... just let your body shut down and do not think at all, but also do not let your mind fall asleep.

Like I said, the worse thing is to think "Well why am I not seeing things yet." And also don't obsess over concentrating on something. Here's a good example. If you WANT to go to sleep, you will not do it. Why? You're using your brain and thinking "I wish I could go to sleep now." But you can't, so you will keep thinking about.... why you can't go to sleep, why you aren't asleep yet, or just thinking I wish I could go to sleep. When you use your brain and think, you are keeping your brain active which is what is NOT supposed to happen when you go to sleep. My only advice is just to keep practicing and practicing on it. Try to just let go of all your thoughts and go with the flow. WILD sounds so hard, but once you do it your first time (like me) it's actually a very simple process. I am off tomorrow and will see if I can successfully do it again.

Also, I would totally recommend a sleeping mask and ear plugs. That way, you can block out your fan, all signs of light, and any other noise that may arise. I perfer to try WILD's during the day when I take naps. I just have WAY too much trouble waking up 5 hours after I go to sleep, and then trying. I'm usually too tired to even wake up, and if I do wake up I fall asleep quick. Naps are convienent because whenever you get a chance at doing them, you usually don't have to worry about doing anything else (i.e. work..) and it's only for 1-3 hours which isn't long.

Anyways, I hope this info will help you, I will keep you guys updated if my WILD tomorrow is successful as well.

Welcome to dreamviews man conratulations on the WILD.

So far the only WILDs I have done were accedental, I was just relaxing and letting thoughts flow like you say, then I suddenly get hit with sleep paralysis. Most of the time I just fall asleep normally when I do this, but on a few occasions I ended up WILDing. Even if it doesn't result in a WILD, letting my thoughts flow is still great, I recomend it to anyone.

      Good luck on the future
