i can have about 1 lucid a week. in these dreams i relize it's a dream and start telling my friends and people around me in the dream. NO ONE BELIVES ME, so i do things like smack them and yell and (other things, lol) and they keep saying that we are awake. I start to lose confidence in my dreams and belive that i am not dreaming and feel bad that i did all those things. WHY DOESN"T ANYONE BELIEVE ME?
i feel i might lose confidence in my lucid dreams all together andi might stop LDing
does anyone else have this problem?
what is going on?

Well, first off, I've been lucid dreaming for as long as I can remember, and many of my dream characters STILL try to convince me that I'm not dreaming, so that's just something that you're going to have to get used to. Lol.

But, really, (if you ask me) that's just the rational part of your mind trying to simulate the waking world. Your mind is soaked in the realization that most of the people that you would bring up lucid dreaming to, in the waking world, would tell you that you're awake, at the time that you speak to them about LDing. Your brain knows that, statistically, you have a much better chance of someone denying that you are dreaming than someone actually saying "yup, you're dreaming right now" so that is the most common response you get when bringing up the fact that you're dreaming, to your dream characters.

It's frustrating as all hell, I know, but it's something that even the most seasoned LDers go through.

Just ignore them and and do w/e you want. Prove to yourself it is a lucid dream by doing reality checks.

In my dream, before I went lucid, there were lots of people in the halls, but when I went lucid they all disappeared, and anybody left completely ignored me, accept for some weird buggy eye movements.
The only time I directly interacted with a dream character was when I called my "divine mother" in the dream and I talked to her shortly...

its just that in my LDs i get paraniod that it is real life and i'm the only one that relizes its a dream. I show them clocks that never change and show them the crazy stuff that can't really happen. It starts to feel that even though i'm dreaming the dream world is its own reality and i dont want to screw up the relationships in the dream reality. It is really wierd. I try to go off and have fun but i feel to bad that i smacked them and stuff. its really wierd.

yes i no its fake but i think this paranioa that there is a dream reality may be due to the fact that even though i attain lucidity very often, the stregth of them maybe weak, and drawing me back into a nonLucid Dream.

Yea, and your lucidity will probably improve over time, and then you will be able to just shrug them off and enjoy the dream.

You could turn there head into a pumpkin. They probably would ignore it but then at least you know you seriously are dreaming.

To put it bluntly: get over it and don't worry. If you know you're dreaming you are no longer tied to social expectations and rules of engagement. Don't let your conscience make you paranoid. When you are lucid, remember that your are their creator - literally. You may not feel confident in the assumption that you are dreaming. But once you know you are there is no doubt so act as though there is, in fact, no doubt.

If you put your fear and apprehension aside you'll probably notice a change in the way DCs act towards you. At the least, you can change them in such a way that you don't care about "their" opinions because you already know the answer: you're dreaming; They are the dumb ones!

I more commonly have trouble with the other end of the spectrum: I sometimes have a DC tell me I'm dreaming, tell me I'm desired because of my LD ability, or have conversations about LDing but, fail to become lucid.

TROGDOR! Burninating the whole town, burninating the peasants...Sorry, I couldn't resist. If my DCs try to convince me I'm not dreaming I just slap 'em upside the head. That'll teach them to contradict me! Basically, don't let them discourage you. I tend to think your subconcious mind tries hard to convince you it is real life; mine comes up with weird explanations for things that seem "iffy."

Just remember your the guy in charge here, This is uber important.

What come out there mouth is your creation, it maybe that you believe that there reaction is going to be them not beleaving you. Next time you ask the question really beliave that the awnser that they will give is to beleave you. It is a confidence issue, don't worry we all come across road blocks every now and then, I still have a limit to the hight I can reach while flying.

Believe in yourself and the world YOU'VE created.

Haha, exactly what I was going to say, and exactly what I did on my first lucid dream. The DCs got so surprised that their eyes literally jumped out of their face in a cartoon fashion when they saw me flying... lol.

That way, if they still think you're not dreaming, at least they'll think you're cool as hell for being able to fly.

Try never to trust ANYONE that says your not dreaming, it has to come from yourself. I think they are saying that they don't believe you because you are expecting them to not believe you in a way. I can understand how it could get frustrating sometimes. Good to see your going lucid though and good luck.

Who cares, anyway, that you DC know? I've had so far two LDs with characters, and I never told them it was a dream. I kind of feel it would ruin the fun! Am I the only one?

No your not the only one, I'm the same and can't be bothered telling DC's that it's a dream because it's more fun that way being like neo or superman having powers but no one knowing and also don't want to waste my time trying to prove it. It's ok to try it once or twice though to see there reactions but after that I don't bother.

Since you've shown them things that can't happen in real life and they still don't believe you, it's probably because you [even subconsciously] expect them to deny all of it, it tends to happen and the only way you can do it is if you're really determined and confident to prove them wrong no matter how many times they say no because eventually they'll have to give up.

That, or you could turn one into tie-dye dog and make them do tricks for you, that'd seem to make DCs to believe the dream's a dream.

This topic reminds me of the DCs in the gameboy game Link's Awakening. After Link discovers he is in a dream, he begins asking the DCs questions. "How long have I been on this island? Why would you ask a question like that?"

I need to play that game again. <3

Heheh. Last night, I exclaimed to the first person I saw while lucid (a friend) that she was a dream character. She gave me a wierd look. I didn't mention it was a dream to any other DCs (there were hundreds, at a giant outdoor party&#33, but I did show my friends a few cool tricks. (I'd knock my hands together, and make a finger or two jump to the other hand. I also showed them my awesome flying skills, toward the end).
